I cant see us getting past 2024 without getting snapped up. Alex Roy says 12-18 months. A bid could come anytime though. With all these contracts & RFQs being requested now if the likes of Q sign up loads of business they may pounce sooner rather than later.
If we get past 2022 we be lucky imo but who knows.

Self-driving cars are coming, but you will still need to know how to drive.
Think decades — if it ever happens at all. So, yeah, you'd better plan on knowing how to drive, especially in bad weather. And that goes for your teenagers too.
At the start of 2022, the closest thing to a self-driving car for consumers is one equipped with General Motors' Super Cruise system, a hands-free semi-automated driving suite introduced on Cadillac's flagship CT6 sedan for the 2018 model year. Now available on a number of Chevrolet and Cadillac vehicles, Super Cruise works only on approved limited-access roads in the U.S. and Canada, such as freeways. While Super Cruise is active, drivers can take their hands off the wheel as the car steers, accelerates and brakes on its own. However, drivers must pay close attention at all times and be ready to take control at a moment's notice.

Though impressive, Super Cruise is not the fully autonomous self-driving system consumers believe is right around the corner. They don't want to pay attention and serve as a backup for the technology. Instead, they want to scroll social media, play a game, watch a movie or take a nap.

Even GM's more capable next-generation Ultra Cruise, planned as a subscription service on the company's premium models and usable on city streets, carries the following disclaimer: "Always pay attention while driving and when using Ultra Cruise and Super Cruise. Do not use a hand-held device."

Volvo's recently announced Ride Pilot is different because it will allow drivers to divert their attention from the road. The automaker says Ride Pilot will take complete control of the vehicle, and Volvo will take full responsibility for whatever happens, which means drivers are free of their monitoring duties. However, the automaker concedes that there could be situations in which the system will need to hand control over to a human, so drivers are not entirely off of the hook.

Similar to Super Cruise and Ultra Cruise (and Ford's upcoming BlueCruise), Ride Pilot will operate only on specific approved roads. And while Ride Pilot's sensors, cameras and lidar will be standard on Volvo's upcoming electric flagship SUV, owners won't be able to use it until regulators approve it. Even then, Volvo will initially offer Ride Pilot only in California and will perform an over-the-air update to activate the system only after the vehicle's owner has paid for a subscription to the service.

In short, even today's (and tomorrow's) most advanced hands-free driving systems require the driver to be attentive, alert and ready to take the wheel at all times.

Shares of leading mobile chipmaker Qualcomm are currently up by more than 36% from their 52-week low of $122.17 on Oct. 12. The company has reported stronger-than-expected fourth-quarter results for fiscal 2021 (ending Sep. 26, 2021). Both revenues and earnings surpassed consensus estimates, a commendable feat in times of significant supply-chain constraints.

According to Grand View Research, the global 5G chipset market is expected to grow to $66.45 billion in 2028, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 69.1% from 2021 to 2028. Since it is not yet possible to make a top-tier 5G phone without Qualcomm chipsets, the company stands to benefit dramatically from the ongoing 5G device upgrade cycle.

According to Counterpoint, Qualcomm accounted for 27% market share in the global smartphone application-processor market, while MediaTek was the leader with 40% market share in the third quarter ending Sep. 30, 2021. However, MediaTek is more focused on low and mid-tier 5G portfolios, while Qualcomm is dominating the 5G baseband modem segment with a 62% market share. The multisourcing of components from chip manufacturers Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing and Samsung, coupled with the launch of the Snapdragon 4, 6, and 7 series, is expected to further strengthen Qualcomm's positioning in the 5G smartphone market.

With handsets accounting for around 50% of Qualcomm's total business, investors are rightly concerned about Apple cutting out Qualcomm and instead opting for in-house development of iPhone chips. However, while challenging, this may not prove catastrophic for Qualcomm considering that Apple accounted for only a 15.2% share of the global smartphone market in the third quarter.

Additionally, Qualcomm is also diversifying rapidly in the non-handset markets, such as automotive connectivity and the Internet of Things (IoT). The company's chips are used for enabling next-generation connectivity services, such as infotainment, precise positioning, security, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi (in-vehicle and vehicle-to-cloud) in automobiles. This is a huge market opportunity, considering that embedded cellular connectivity is expected to be present in almost 75% of all vehicles sold in 2027, up from only 20% in 2015. Qualcomm's processors, modems, and networking solutions are now being increasingly used in IoT devices.

Everyone must have heard about Qualcomm's position in the field of mobile phone chips. In fact, Qualcomm is also one of the important suppliers in the smart car chip market. This year, many new cars including Xiaopeng P5, Weilai ET7, Zhiji L7 and other new cars have chosen to use Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P. This chip can be regarded as the car version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile phone processor.
It is worth noting that in the planning of Qualcomm's third-generation Snapdragon car digital ****pit platform, in addition to SA8155P, there is actually a flagship product code-named SA8195P. Regardless of the numbers, there is not much difference. SA8195P is based on the improvement of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8CX computer processor. In terms of performance, it can directly benchmark the 10th generation Intel i5 processor!

In terms of process technology, SA8195P still uses TSMC's 7-nanometer process. However, the GPU has been upgraded from Adreno 640 of SA8155P to Adreno 680. Therefore, in terms of AI computing power, SA8195P can reach close to 8TOPS, which is double the SA8155P.

At present, there are not many new cars announced to adopt SA8195P, and Cadillac LYRIQ, which will be launched in China, is one of them. 33-inch OLED curved screen, resolution close to 9K, 1400W AKG audio... Such top-level hardware, does it sound like a good match to SA8195P.
Although SA8195P is the flagship product in Qualcomm's third-generation Snapdragon automotive digital ****pit platform plan, this is actually a plan released by Qualcomm in 2020. Today, Qualcomm has launched a series of products for the fourth-generation Snapdragon automotive digital ****pit platform.

On November 29, Jidu Automobile officially announced that its first mass-produced model will use this chip, and it will be equipped with the next-generation smart cabin system and software solutions jointly developed by Jidu and Baidu. The new car has also become the first domestic mass-produced model to adopt the 4th generation Snapdragon digital ****pit platform. At the Beijing Auto Show in April next year, Jidu Motors will showcase their concept car products for the first time. The new car is scheduled to be officially launched in mass production in 2023!
