The Bradford electrolyser is Alkali. Look at the paragraphs under the Case Studies heading on this government webpage.

That may be why it is called a 'low carbon' rather than 'green' hydrogen.

I can't think the shorters are especially happy today, especially Citadel whose position opened after the Bosch 'drop'.

In contrast, the M&G fund manager who bought the Bosch shares will be very happy at being up £3.2m in just under 3 weeks.

We also need a new European partner(s). I am thinking particularly of SOEC to address the refinery and petrochem sectors. Who is going to build the scaled-up SOECs that there will be demand for after the Shell test results start to emerge?

Guess that is why it was named 'Low Carbon' and not 'Green'. Happily, our partner Hygen has five other announced projects, none of which are labelled 'Low Carbon'.

I have been running a spreadsheet tracking (circa 70) UK green H2 proposed/actual projects. Current position on HAR1 proects, based on RNS, developer websites and ChatGPT - (but you have to ask VERY precise questions) is:

Cromarty - Unknown

Bradford Low Carbon – ITM possible (Hygen partner)

West Wales Hydrogen Project - Unknown

High Marnham – Siemens (GeoPura partner)

Whitelee – ITM announced

Green 3 (Northfleet) – Cummins (drawings in planning appl)

Trafford – Unknown (Carlton)

Barrow – Unknown (Carlton)

Where did you find the report of Carlton choosing ITM for the Barrow electrolyser?

Carlton (and ITM) have been completely silent on Barrow, and the 6 other projects they have announced to date.

A little update on the Northfleet H2 project. It is Hyro rather than Carlton.

I looked at the planning application for that project, which (seems ot be standard practice)includes a manufacturer-supplied drawing of the electrolyser assembly and configuration. In this case, and unusually, the developer's drawing set has not removed the manufacturer name - in this case, Cummins.

We still do not know the electrolyser manufacturer for either of those projects, and Carlton has several other projects in development across the UK. They have kept very very quiet on this to date. Interestingly ITM have never mentioned Carlton either, tho I have seen some LinkedIn messages from ITM business development staff congratulating Carlton on their HAR successes.

This is where Ceres will do really well, and that is why Thermax are our partners for SOEC. Every refinery in India is a huge opportunity for Ceres kit. Use waste heat from a process to produce zero-carbon fuel for that same process.

Total that lot must be in the order of £60-100m.

THis strategic error has cost Bosch a medium-sized fortune. As Ceres was paid for all its services, Ceres 'losses' are limited to unrealised licence fees from units that will never be sold.
