CAML reminds me of the oil producer SOCA was it? Trades as Pharos now …. Had good assets in Vietnam but as time progressed production declined … 20p now from 300p in 2015 I think … what worries me here is the 10 year lifetime of the copper asset … I don’t buy into mining in UK … without plenty of resources and robots.

So, drop to 120p aka 2020 might be interested for a bounce, had a few trades padt month on results but jot a hold for me.

I first bought HFEL in 2021 at 330p ... looked value at the time ..... I don't sit on my hands though .... seen it pop down to 230s in 2022/23 back up to nearly 300 back down to 196 up to 245 and here we are today. Bought more at 203 just now - happy to hold at these levels.

Average hold is 131.3 with about 1/3 of that I held around June last year.

China putting tariffs on US has spooked the market .... I sold GSF for SEIT at 58p to 49p .... just reversed 100,000 48p to 46p.

The weapons are for export to boost US bottom line - hence Trump demanding NATO invests more - translate - NATO buys more US weapons, a stance taken during Trump 2016-2020. I'm sure Putin scratched his chin in 2019 and asked why is NATO buying more weapons thinking it's time to get into Ukraine quick. Put it another way - Trump is incapable of thinking about consequences.

Business is not going to invest in the USA falling into recession. Investment will require government assistance, and is precisely what Trump should be doing if he wants more manufacturing to return to USA. Bullying business with threats of tariffs was never going to work as intended - at least in my view.

Stipulation that trade across individual nations should balance was also a theme of Trump 2016-2020. It was thick then and even more thick now having learned next to nothing. What matters is balance of trade across the ensemble of nations, that is to say a trade surplus with nation X can mitigate a trade deficit with nation Y. The thinking by Trump is backwards ....

... but that's what happens when thick people are put into power - and is why Reform Party are bottom of my voting list.

Interesting move putting an RNS out albeit late c.f. last year on the day dividends are paid. I buy in early in these circumstances in anticipation of a lift - but equally nice to see SEIT's USA Steel interests being pushed given Trump.

GSF are looking to undertake some capital recycling - while I’ve done some of my own. I still have a position here ….. last September the average was around 61p .. I overbought the renewables drop at the time traded the average down to around 52p including dividends, as of a couple of weeks ago … and re-appraised.

The above said, NAV are indicators - where value depends upon buyers. For destruction of value see DGI9 … it’s being forced to take a 30% hit … to already depressed valuations, principally because at the end of the day, its valuations retained absurd assumptions.

In fact the recent mini rally yesterday on TRIG came about because management fees were adjusted to 50% market value and 50% calculated value - so one needs to be sceptical about published asset values.

I make plenty of good decisions and also plenty of poor ones, but a rally on the back of a correlated third party being bought out is not one that is convincing to my mind.

Buying back shares at 12.5% yield is good business if the company has the cash flow to support the additional debt. TRIG has done well here, in issuing new shares aboive £1 whilst now looking to fund share buybacks from additional loans from banks.

With GSF finances are tight, revenues show potential now that battery storage has been rolled out, and with tax credits there may be additional funds to buy back shares or invest in further storgae facilities - but in short term, cash is tight, hence I assume the expansion of the RCF late last year.

UK focused battery storage complexes are attractive to some renewable energy producers, as we have seen with the buyout of HEIT.

GSF, however, has its systems distributed across UK, Ireland, Germany and USA. While this has been an advantage in terms of revenues, and especially so given the UK debacle in switching over to Nat Gas rather than battery storage, and indeed the takeout price of HEIT gives an excellent indication of the misplacing of the trading price of GSF ....

... that distribution does make me wonder who exactly would be interested in taking over the assets themselves. Certainly not a UK focused player in the sector in my view.

As a result, I've taken the past week or so to reduce considerably my position here and move sideways and keep an eye on a re-trace ... I might be lucky I might not be lucky - but that's market.

Over a two year period since March 25 2023, relatively speaking HFEL and JCGI share prices are within 1% of each other, with the latter recovering from the 180s to 265 today.

JCGI pays a 4% yield whilst HFEL pays an 11% yeld ... so holders of HFEL have earned more with a less volatile ride.

Call options are one method of looking to increase revenues and quite acceptable.

Rathbones have reduced considerably in both SEIT and TRIG. Could be a while to wait.
