@guird you’re spot on. Still a mystery how a relatively simple retail business manages to lose £63.7m from continuing operations. Contrast with APN.

Shame the guidance for 2026 hasn’t been improved (yet).

Is there any other listed company which has destroyed so much shareholder value but where the Chairman is completely mute? Does the guy have a voice or an independent thought in his head. He’s an absolute disgrace and should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.

Just a pity that price leadership seems to mean selling stuff at a loss.

The only positive here is that it puts a floor under the share price. If MM is looking to make a bid he has to pay at least 34 pence.

Just reading the APN trading update. They go from strength to strength despite whey prices. Generating around £40m EBITDA on £140m of sales. Way to go - but why couldn’t it have been us delivering those impressive results. How has THG been shown a clean pair of heels by the newcomer. Very depressing. The opportunity is clearly there but remains unrealised for us.

@guird you’ve summed up the situation in a nutshell. We need profitable sales not higher (loss making) turnover. Any fool can increase turnover if they sell stuff at a loss.

@crafty yes Matt paid 32p for his shares. If he’d had to buy a couple of hundred million shares in the market though he would have had to pay a lot more due to the law of supply and demand. If the company had wanted to treat all shareholders fairly they should have had a rights issue at 32p.

Whilst the Greencore deal is obviously positive, we don’t know how good it is until we get an indication of what sort of % of the sales price comes back to THG. Hopefully more than two or three % and hopefully Matt hasn’t succumbed to his usual temptation to take little or nothing now on the hope of jam tomorrow.

It’s not crazy at all Crafty. It’s entirely sensible. You’re still focusing on revenue when the market wants profits.
