@olderandwiser I agree, we all knew the CE-IVD was on its way and I agree the UK market is probably not where GDR will head for its sales. The product really is world beating, and once users see how they can implement it with standard PCR equipment leaving the final 'read' of the test on a realtime instrument, they'll see how this test represents a real boon to their throughput and cost saving because of the savings in capital equipment costs.

Agree too PHE have done a shocking job and creating the test environment. I can't understand how and why but it really is a national disgrace. Then to single out partners that don't have a history in delivering solutions you wonder where the kick back is being made - a little like the contract to the ferry company with no boats last year or the aircraft carrier and forgetting the planes. My opinion is its the filtering of the work to junior ministers who have no experience but big egos / opinions.

I agree, this could become the gold standard test because of its technical performance and the manufacturer. I don't see anyone else with that level of test manufacture capability in a pre-dosed bead format that can be shipped and stored at room temperature before use. It really is a major test imo

I’ve seen a few of these ‘will let you know after we’ve tested’, the CE-IVD submission should include adequate test data to support the performance claims so genedrive will have this data already. A lot of these companies are making claims to bring in funding.

@bsinkers Apart from the Covid opportunity, genedrive is well positioned with other tests. The company is based on a solid set of technologies that are now proven and just starting their commercialisation. It’s such a large task that there will be many solutions I’m sure but in my opinion genedrive is based on the most solid.

The optigene is a similar isothermal test to the one Abbott released and has had problems with. Isothermal tests are not as sensitive and the Abbott test is missing a lot of low level infections. Keep the faith with genedrive, it’s a gold standard qPCR lab test that can be done at poc..

@scart the poc genedrive would be a kit as it would include sampling for example

@Marve UK labs mainly using LifeTech instruments which some are IVD certified, or Roche. Genedrive have announced their test has been validated on both types.

Yes agree, since the CE-IVD is a standardised documentation process it's not a 'decision' or 'opinion' process commercialisation will have been going on in parallel....

Pretty consistent trading pattern whilst waiting for the approvals to come in and the start of the commercial sales process for the 6M tests that have already been secured, would love to see some indication that these are all pre-sold...

Medusa19 has only just been set up, specifically to sell the Avtiva test? Woah, not what I would call conventional route to market for a diagnostics test. Perhaps shows nativity as this isn’t a proven easy to use test. That’s their intention but a long way to go. Now tied up - exclusive. What are they doing?!

and the Oxford vaccine news, going to be a while if ever. Also CMO saying COVID not going to go away, ever. Serious implications for testing which I believe will beed to become widespread and regular even when not displaying symptoms.
