Optigene is a usability nightmare but yet a frontrunner POC PCR test for this government. Read into that what you will
Im very happy. Despite the constant self flagellation that occurs here within the electrons and binary code of this chat board my holding is still holding up as we await the inevitable future and the potential to spaff our bits of plastic across the UK and beyond.
In the absence of news to churn the waters of ODX the flotsam always surfaces and as it sits there and decays belches its guff all over the once pristine and well informed chat board.
What's a LFT?
Theres a little button marked "sell" which will make all of your omega issues go away if you so choose
If anything this just goes to show you the level of government interference into supposedly independent activities.
The MHRA authorised self test procedures under emergency use. A perfectly legal pathway to use. The UK decided to use this product "off-IFU" so there will unlikely be legal implications for the manufacturer.
Interesting idea although PSA usually needs to be quantitative. Maybe you could use an LFT to detect at a high level and then use positivity to send a patient for a quantitative test
Problem is now a full backtrack would cast doubt on the DHSC and the excellent reputation of the MHRA.
Politics is dictating this perhaps they could spin a switch 9f tests by announcing its to use British made.
Ah yes Medusa that highly reputable name in medical diagnostics whos owners other ventures have been accused of modern slavery
rocquet it is the best performing test in a small study from 1 site. This means that the data is very likely to be affected by bias. If you showed me a triple centre study/ group of independent studies with sensitivity as high as shown in the initial data i would concede that yes it is by far and away the best test. I also dislike that the name of the trial partner is not shared. Why would that info be withheld?
rocquet i have never seen anybody so confident about a products performance based upon a small study. As mentioned by others if AVCT is chosen it sets ODX back by months so id rather they crack on with the Visitect product elsewhere especially as it seems our own government wont do anything without their palms being greased.
They have spent so long playing Mahjong in darkened rooms they have had an identity crisis
Flashy500 unfortunately its not me with contacts there.
Mologic are in a weird situation here. On the one side they have the FIND data showing great performance and FIND are respected worldwide including WHO and then they have the Porton down data which is allegedly negative.
FIND opens the doors to LMICs through the WHO (LMICs often use WHO approvals as their regulatory clearance in the absence of a strong regulatory body such as UK MHRA) but Porton Down was supposed to be the door opener to the UK market. Im not really sure what will happen now but with how petty this government is I'm not sure whether the threat of litigation will be a positive or a negative.
I think ODX have been very unfortunate because on their side they have stepped up, done what was asked and prepared well however it appears right now they have little control.
Its basis clinical evaluation practice to impose a single freeze/thaw limit on the samples being used.
Despite that ive seen a lot of cases where the diagnostic performance of a test has been poor in evaluation because they used the sample fresh for reference testing (to assign the sample its "true" result) and then whacked it in and out of a freezer multiple times before it got around to evaluating your test. Its the sort of thing im used to seeing in LMICs not bloody porton down!
The viral load will also be very likely suppressed in a vaccinated individual meaning they will be very likely to be less contagious. Theres a lot of nuance to this entire pathway
Visitect already has the CE mark but it will need In country evaluations
can confirm i just had a buy under the mid too
