I think the main issue here for the markets is that the ceo is unproven and the comms are poor. The numbers will be worked on by analysts and in a couple of days the sp should recover by around 15p imv. We shall see.

Just bought a further £5k [ 16k total this am] at just under 120. I hope I am getting this right - I had to sell some beloved MSI for this !

Zebrow , take a look at jdsports - they have been hammered today but are still growing faster than next and generating higher profits. Only real problem is managing investor expectations.

TD , JD are relatively small in USA so lots of opportunity there imv. As for UK , we all know about the cost of living crisis and the dampening effect that has had - all in all JD have done well imv in all areas except setting expectations!

Paul, I agree the shareholders here including myself are getting a bad deal I am down 70%. However my investment in Zenith where Cattaneo is CEO is down over 90%. We have a beauty contest of the ugly sisters here imv.

TD, I disagree on the growth point - they have great plans for the middle east and other parts of the world - plus of course the wider use if the JD facia. Wrt Cowgill- I thought he continued as a consultant. Other fashion retailers are not universally performing - SDRY is in the middle of a disaster, BOO and ASC similar. I am unsure whether nxt got their growth from fashion or homewares but their growth in sales was lower than JD's. I am hoping the analysts see it that way!

Including next, who have seen their sp rise today ! Their communications are great and maybe jd should emulate that. As for future prospects next are anchored in UK but jd continues to grow world wide - am I the only one who can see this?

Just added another £5k at 119p - unbelieveable price imv.

The company now has a mcap of half of Next but is making more in profits - it is all about communication - next look like they are in control even though they have adjusted their profit figures 4 or 5 times this year. Laughable really.

Sold £5k to leap onto JDsports where price drop way overdone .

Bought another £6k = price drop way overdone - expecting to gain 5% on latest purchase within a day or so,.

Great update today with upgrades across the important numbers especially cash generation plus 100m. Expecting sp will rise 50p today. What is interesting is that comparing to JD sports it is a smaller and less profitable company but the market likes it more hence the higher mcap. great clarity in statement may be part of this.

TD you were correct - a poor year from JD - profit before tax etc down 7% on last year. I think the sp already reflects that lower figure and yesterday's fall was a result of a leak imv. Not looking good for today 10p off the sp imv.

So, when cash is non existent why not defer expenditure using any ruse that springs to mind? One day this chicken will come home to roost likely around the same time as the Turkey!

I think the vote shows a lack of confidence in the BOD - hence the sp fall.

My view of this is that the two incumbents are incompetent but less incompetent than Andrea Cattaneo , one of the wouldbe new directors, who has destroyed shareholder value to an even larger extent. Furthermore the take over mob are in it just for themselves [also] or why would they bother? So i am voting for the imcumbents with gritted teeth.

Moniman, You could not think of another company where the ceo would not have been sacked for destroying value like our two clowns have done? Try Zenith energy where the CEO has destroyed 92% of shareholder value since i invested. The key point here is that the same guy is being put forward by the wannabe new team as a key player! You could not make it up and it does prove there are worse people than our two and they want to take over ffs.
