RE: What price to sell at?4 Feb 2025 08:34
On a simple p/e basis, closest UK equivalent is EZY who are on 8.4. In the US, AAL is 8.9. IAG is still at 7.4. Don't forget for IAG, that is on last years earnings, so this year is expected around 20% improvement on margins. On top of the that, you can put the trajectory of IAG - are earnings going to continue to improve? Covid and debt were the main drags on SP previously, but there were some serious structural problems too. All of these have been dealt with now, and on top of that there is the prospect of expansion at Heathrow, together with a management team that the City trusts. So, beyond this year's improvement in margins, more improvement lies in wait... . Thus the SP still looks cheap now and will continue to look cheap even after results (once p/e is again adjusted downwards) and on top of that, with the 'enterprise' factor considered. I'd guess at this point, £5 by year end is fair, we may overshoot to £6. There'll be profit taking along the way with retail investors taking flight.
