ntc, nice to see you back on board.
aye, i donโt disagree with the main chart reading here.
markets donโt need fireworks, war paint, chest-beating or captains trying to steer the world by ego and foghorn. they need calm seas, clear charts and dull old harbourmasters doing their job properly.
the truth is, boring politics is often the best wind for long-term investors. predictable governments, steady diplomacy, sensible policy and leaders who donโt need to be the headline every morning, thatโs what lets capital hoist sail with confidence.
right now, the market isnโt just marking down one manโs mood swing. itโs pricing oil risk, airline disruption, inflation fears, defence escalation and the possibility that common sense has temporarily fallen overboard.
but the wider point stands: we need less pea****ing on the quarterdeck and more grown-ups quietly fixing the rigging.
less โdeal on, deal offโ.
less sabre-rattling.
less politics by tantrum and television.
give investors boring politics, boring statements, boring diplomacy and boring competence, because boring politics may not make grand headlines, but it often fills the treasure chest over time.
and at the moment, a bit of boredom would be worth its weight in gold.
