in fairness to Sky News (and the excellent Sarah Hewson) they went straight to the pertinent question and really showed up the fact that the data being used is incomplete...it's nobody' fault per se, just the reality that we are having to react to events and interpret data as it's received rather than run a complete trial over an appropriate timescale

...scientist from Edinburgh Uni on Sky news just now talking about the latest survey showing the vaccines are highly effective at reducing serious illness etc....but when pressed on the question of what happens after 4 weeks (which was the data point used) he effectively replied "we don't know"....that's really the point, it could all work out perfectly or it might be that we need a jab every couple of months.

The Government are all in on vaccines and of-course we all hope Covid will be beaten but it does feel a bit to me like listening to the old Soviet Union or Albanian radio broadcasts with the latest data on crop production...only good news allowed and the vaccines apparently have a free pass on announcing ever more impressive safety, efficacy and all-round amazing data sets even though they have side-stepped or super fast-tracked past every normal stage

I'm not saying I don't believe the figures but when the Government continually says "we only follow the science" then you have to question how the vaccine programme can make such claims whilst it is surely obvious that the data is changing on an almost daily basis....it's not science, it's trial and error.

I'm surprised that so many are still optimistic that SYME will trade again, I'm struggling to see any obvious reason for it not trading which leads me to think there is something not good going on behind the scenes.....as Sherlock Holmes said "....when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth..."

I rather fear our money has gone boys and girls, sincerely hope I'm wrong

You're spot on. I haven't posted for a while as, having made one or two "negative" posts, I immediately got attacked for apparently being a de-ramper, a non-holder and/or wanting to drive down the share price in order to buy more at a lower price if/when it trades again. Never mind the fact that I keep repeating I have x number of shares and only want the price to go up but am concerned that there may be bigger problems behind the scenes.

The problem is these boards are anonymous forum and none of us know each other so it's easy for the more aggressive personality types to push their views on to everyone else. no doubt they are the same in "real life"

I think it's pretty easy for more sensible investors to judge the difference between obvious de-rampers as well as over optimistic or naïve "rampers" who are, frankly, just as dangerous.....actually more so when you think of the risk to less experienced investors.

We've been through this many times surely? This Government and it's various scientific and medical advisors have pretty much no interest in Synairgen and we are on our own...hence the £87m we raised to pay for the P3 trials etc. Horby is now probably actually against us after the spats on Twitter and BoJo and HC will only listen to anything emanating from Oxford

Our hopes lie squarely with the US FDA who don't have the same cronyism and elitism. Obviously very good P3 results would probably force the UK to look at us again but they seem only focussed on vaccines and spin everything to suggest they're the one and only answer to this mess despite growing evidence that we will likely need therapeutics in the long term alongside a vaccination programme.

I wish we had smarter leaders but sadly we are stuck with the ones we have which is why we have 108,000 dead and still reporting 20,000 new cases per day!

Let me spell it out; I think there is a serious issue and I have grave concerns we will not see SYME trading again but hope to heck I am completely wrong.

I have 3,000,000 shares at almost bang on the price at suspension as it happens.....IF we trade again I would like the price to go UP and UP and UP from day one

tbh I've no idea if NewInvestor is genuine or if you're a Doctor or not...frankly, I don't care because the points she(?) raised will almost certainly apply to someone reading these boards...there will no doubt be new investors who have put money into this and are now feeling pretty scared.

None of our profiles are public so we all have to take a view on each and every comment. You're right, I have been negative on SYME, I put £7.5k in each of my SIPP and ISA and given you seem to like looking back through old threads you'll notice that I said I have a variety of investments and regarded SYME as probably my biggest gamble. I was starting to get cold feet and, ironically, in the process of trying to do some more research to re-validate my decision to invest when they suspended...I was still at break-even so it wasn't as though the actual investment had turned red, just my growing unease but I was too late.

Such is life, I have also said it's my fault if I've lost my £15k not even AZ (there are other people who will take care of that if there have been any wrongdoings)

Bottom line, stop being such a smart ar*e (although perhaps your a consultant as that seems to go with the territory :)

We all feel your pain NewInvestor and most of us have made similar mistakes, especially at the start of our investing "careers". (I've got £15k in here and tbh I do not expect to get it back but that's just my view based on experience and my own self preservation logic where I hope for the best but plan for the worst!)

It's a really tough business but very tempting as it seems so easy. As others have said, don't be too hard on yourself, read a few books on the subject.....it's not for me or anyone to give actual advice but there is an old adage that says "protect your capital" so spreading your risk is always sensible...if less exciting!

I hope things work out for you and indeed all of us. An expensive lesson indeed but that's how we improve in life

It sounds like NewInvestor is genuine, why wouldn't he/she be. It's all well and good being postiive and pretending everyone with an alternative view is a paid deramper but all of the evidence points to them being right
