Now I could point out that computing nerds of a certain (Unix) age would describe that character as "a pipe"......

I ran from all things software many years ago after wasting hours of my life setting up a network involving a third party where some twit from that third party decided to give critically important node names that used lower case Ls, the digit 1 and capital letters of i, and distributed this info in a PDF document that used a font where all three looked identical.

I survived about two decades of computing before that pushed me closer to the brink. I'm convinced the third party, a global multinational that was going backwards rapidly as technology galloped forwards, never made any money from their product courtesy of instal times on site being three times longer as they should've been as everyone tried to get it all connected.

I guess joint ventures more often than not fizzle out to nothing. I had never invested in a gold exploration or miner before so wasn't entirely sure what to expect in the EG-era.

I'm sure at the time there was lots of over-annalysis of why there was (and still is?) an NDA in place....

I'll wait for a wet weekend to rummage around the newly added bits of EG and read more.

How many M25s are in an M8, or is that the other way round?

I was around for the crushing days of Newmont walking away...... GGP went into the dog drawer along with a large collection of previous hounds. I have no idea why I hung on in there and was still around for HAD005.

I now feel EG is a long (decades) slow burner due to the distance to infrastructure..... HAV is really a sweet spot of great grades and desperate Telfer owner within 50km (or half an M8).....

....With Bamps easing off his educational posts I leave this board unattended for only a few hours and return to find an English Lit class in full swing.

Wish my Sentinel Hub image would load on this gadget, I could be staring at spots from today's update instead......

Thanks for the thanks but I am not alone in spotting spots .....and by no means the most diligent either. I must give a nod to ProfQ and the ever useful PaddyG for squirreling out info from the interweb, and value_seeker who I suspect is always reading but posts sparingly, for pointing out the true usefulness of radar imagery in the first place.

Also thanks for the off topic Perseids tip. Smidgeon cloudy in my northern neck of the woods, alongside the summer joy of endless twilight and very early dawns. I think by the build up to mid August (12th / 13th peak activity) there may be an hour and a bit of possible darkness to be staring at a bit below Cassiopeia.

And before you ask..... I copied and pasted that name rather than risk auto-complete mischief.

They finished what looked like drill pad prep works on the north side of Scallywag at the end of April but no radar image (or daylight image) has ever shown probable drilling activity since then.

Does this mean we're not getting an extra Bank Holiday?

Whilst declining any ownership of the radar image (and associated maintenance costs and accepting responsibility for images not uploading) I decided to educate myself about SAR since I was tickled by the thought that it could spot metals on the ground.

Ripped from the web I came across this when talking about what gives a SAR signal back to the satellite:
" three basic properties of the surface come into play--the dielectric constant (or permittivity ), the roughness (rms height relative to a smooth surface) and the local slope"

That extract was about the only bit from the webpage that wasn't infested with a heap of Greek / algebra that made me wish I was reading a Bamps post instead. Whilst dragging my braincells through the impact of the root of the mean of the square (RMS) - or "Would that make a comfy spot to lie down and sunbathe?" in simpler terms - I decided the technology didn't have that voodoo ability. The dielectric constant is more to do with how much of the radar signal gets into the ground, and how much gets reflected back out. I'll grant you metal gives a great signal (you can see manmade things like the iron ore trains hauling stuff to ports on the radar images); but so does solid outcrops of rock and water hence the sparkly signals from the ponds.

After lots of reading I knew I hadn't drunk enough tea today so will set out to rectify that oversight.... And patiently await the next Newcrest update.

Seems only reasonable that we get a loaner rig from NC if they are hogging our rig at HAV. It would be somewhat pointless to haul up a 2000m drill string just to move a few hundred metres up the road to do a hole on the fringe of Blackhills with our booked rig if there is an equally good "spare" that NC can provide.

Of more interest is the fact we are drilling a fringe of Blackhills - was that on the published planned sequence? I guess a lot of us hoped "back to Scallywag" was going to be back to the district we had all ready drilled in / around and found all the pathfinder geology. The radar images of the Blackhills activity is fairly subtle - it is always a sparkly district on these images with all sorts of exciting strong signals that on closer scrutiny isn't ever gold exploration.

Not entirely sure we are going to get any sight of the backlog of drill results after a patient eight day wait. I got a feeling they (NC and GGP) were only RNS-ing stunning results better than what had gone before in terms of length and grades and anything that extended the footprint or depth. All the infill drilling is just kept in-house and will be used for the MRE update.

Patience, patience, arrrgggghhhhhh - who am I kidding - bring it on! NOW!!!

Apologies for not grasping earlier that you really did mean 28km.....
Found the area with recent activity - it does look Chicken Ranch territory - and the radar shows a vague hint of a signal at one of the more northern holes of the more western string.

They did a first guesstimate in 2019 across all their hits nearby and came up with a total of 100,000 ounces of gold - about just under half of that from Chicken Ranch. Can't suss at what depth below cover it starts from but seems to be about 50m or so from surface.

Shame for them that HAV's MRE came along and blew all of that out of the water. It is interesting they are drilling more but I guess the big boys are eyeing the main prize along the road and wouldn't discuss 100k over a coffee with our exploration neighbours.

It was been very wet and blotchy this year so it may all be drying out mud. The radar is more useful for definitive drill locations.
