Si_Derman ref 13.53 post Fair point but I actually checked both marine traffic and vesselfinder and the position in both cases was from a couple of weeks back so it is fair to assume that for some reason it is not sending back a signal to show where it is. On the question of how extensive a refit is required while you may be right it is equally possible I am right as it is coming up to what I think is its designed life. If I recall correctly most cargo ships are designed to last around 30 years and it is beyond that.

Si_Derman ref 12.49 post thanks for that what I find interesting is that when you look at the details of the latest position it is not up to date. It would seem that for some reason they do not want people to know where it is coming from. Looks like it may be in for some time.

During my morning check on the Belfast Harbour website I noticed that Excalibur is shortly shifting from BBD to SRQ. Also a second tug Venture is arriving at SRQ tomorrow. This means that there will be two tugs in SRQ. My count is four vessels will be in the SRQ by tomorrow. I wonder if another barge is ready to depart that would at least explain why two tugs are needed.

LSE03 ref 11.06 post With regards to financing this is where the ECF comes in as HARL will be able to provide sourcing that will give them around two years to pay for the vessels which would free up capital.

Xenor ref 10.47 post I agree with you that common sense would say that the inflation uplift provision would be in both the main contract and the sub contract. My point is that the RNS does not reference that provision which is why I did not reference it in my reply to Radika. I also note that the sub contract is not a fixed sum contract it is stated as being between two figures. It is, therefore, possible that the sub contract does not have the same inflation uplift provision as in the main contract but it does have a price adjustment provision.

On checking it looks like it has turned off its tracker as neither marinetraffic or vesselfinder have a current position for her. The Grima is a 24m long Passenger/Ro-Ro cargo ship and due to its age over 40 years old it is likely to be an extensive refit. Such a refit will be useful in winning contracts for further such refits.

Radika ref 09.17 post I wouldstrongly advise that you do your own research. That way you will not be influenced by the bias of any one person. That said neutral facts that I can give you are:

1 HARL has a sub contract with Navantia (UK) in relation to a £1.6bn MoD contract to build three Fleet Solid Support Ships. The main contract has an inflation uplift provision it is not clear if the sub contract which is worth £7-800m also has such a provision.

2 HARL owns four shipyard/fabrication facilities these are at Belfast in Northern Ireland, Appledore in Devon and Methil and Arnish in Scotland. It also owns the IslandMagee Salt Cavern project in Northern Ireland. There is a judicial review into the grant of permission in relation to the IslandMagee project that is due to be heard from the 2 May.

Next week will be the first of four short trading weeks we will be having over the next six to eight weeks. As a reminder we will have the MayDay Bank Holiday on 1 May, then the following we will have the Coronation Bank Holiday. Finally there will the Late Spring Bank Holiday on 29 May.

dawski37 and Lottie123 I agree with both of you about Methil. I was thinking that the GM there does not seem to be going out of his way to bring work into the yard unlike Appledore and Arnish. I could be wrong but that is the impression I get as we do not here about Methil winning contracts. Hopefully yesterday's LinkedIn post is an indication that is changing.
