LSE03 ref 17.10 post I note that paragraph 2.10.8 of EN4 states 'Where the brine is discharged to the sea, for example, these could relate to the siting offshore of the outflow pipe (to reduce impact on sensitive flora and/or fauna) and the rate of discharge (to reduce saline concentration levels)
2.10.9 states 'Discharge of brine to sea from outflow pipes should be a last resort'
From these it is clear that discharge of Brine into the sea is permissible if there is no other reasonable alternative. I am not sure if this differs from the current guidance.

Rusty58 ref 16.03 post The regulatory issues relate to BAe or BAB as my view is if either was to make a takeover bid then there would be a referral to the CMA due to the reduction in competition after a duopoly being broken. There is a question as to whether any bidder would be allowed to keep the FSS contract. It follows from what I said that any company other than BAe or BAB would not have the same issue. I would add that a non UK company seeking to takeover HARL may run into issues under the National Security and Investments Act 2021

LSE03 ref 09.40 post I note with the Gresham House fund the suggestion is that they wil look for a route to market for the assets in the fund. I am therefore not sure if IM is suited to this fund.

I think that over the next two weeks we are going to see more share price volatility. The reason for this is that you will have people crystalising a loss on trades on HARL for tax reasons. Also you will have people doing a Bed and ISA for the start of the tax year. It is not clear which there will be more of.

This would provide an integrated solution where Arnish will fabricate parts and they are then transported a mile down the new road to the Deep Water Terminal.

Gilbosconi ref 20.33 post I see we have another round of takeover suggestions. As I have said before and I am not going to repeat my reasoning it is my view that a takeover is not likely for regulatory reasons. Also if the aim of a takeover is to get hold of Belfast and/or Appledore a takeover is not necessary as you just need to make an offer to buy them as they are separate companies. This makes more sense than buying none core assets which you have to fund.

On checking the Belfast Harbour website Cory Box Barge 1 and the tug Dolphin are confirmed as departing from SRQ at 08.00 tomorrow. It looks like they are not trying an evening departure I suspect because of the weather. I wonder when the rest will be leaving.

I would look out for a large after hours trade. It may be that someone may have made a large buy order and it is being filled.

LSE03 ref 13.06 post I have always thought that funding for IslandMagee could come in part from the Infrastructure Bank allowing HARL to retain 100% of the equity in the project. What might be an idea is for a joint application for funding to be made for both IslandMagee and the Ballyumford Power to X as they have similar objectives.
