Electric cars with sufficient range and ability to charge as rapidly as you can fill a car with petrol or diesel fuel are a long way in the future. They can only be blended in in time over many years. History teaches us such rapid change never happens. The horse was still in use well after the petrol car was invented. Propeller aircraft are still in use well after the jet engine has been invented, and still have considerable uses that jet powered aircraft are not able or economical to do.
It's patent nonsense to say electric cars are going to be the only cars on the roads within even a decade from now. And, like aircraft, petrol and diesel will have uses even in the future for lorries. etc..
