The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
Is very hard to put a value on it.
I would be happy for it to return and not have to write off the investment, the rest is a bonus.
The price will vary depending on If we keep North America
The wars in Ukraine, Israel-Palestine/iran will all need steel en mass to rebuild.
the demand will probably push up the prices and see steel in a similar scenario of hiked returns just like the oil industry did not so long ago.
I’m only thinking out loud - The downside is by not paying off our debts/ bonds there will possibly be big financial penalties for defaulting.
Though on the companies website they do claim to have the capital to pay it.
I’ve seen various articles:
1) Russian Evraz Steel Box targets Uzbekistan for 2024 construction market expansion
2) various railway line projects been flouted
I can’t be that far off for sanctions to be lifted
sporting bodies are already starting to allow russian teams to participate in sport albeit under a neutral flag
Tennis has ended the suspensions of Belarus and Russian players
UEfa have Russia back to play in U17 championships today the Paralympics have allowed them to also resume also won’t be long before rest falls back to normality.
Atm it looks doom and gloom
However the issue with Russian/non Russian laws are a nightmare because if it happens a large chunk of the valuation will be wiped off.
However I feel not all is lost because they do own assists in the United States, Canada, the Czech Republic and Kazakhstan.
While I understand the Russian laws will likely effect non Russian holders I hope the uk government and regulators put out immediate statements to give us some idea to what measures they will take.
They cannot claim to be blindsided as this has been talked about by Russia for a few weeks so they had notice.
If Russia also follow through the sale of Evraz N/A should be halted immediately so at least some can recover something.
@ ranjm - I don’t get your point
You said
“ the world needs China to lead the world, depiste whatever you read they do not go around bombing and killing millions of civilians.”
There are many reports going around for years that china is cracking down on ethnic minorities inc the Buddhist monks and practically throwing them into camps and all the other talk that goes with it along with it
“it's estimated that two million Uyghurs, Kazakhs, and other Turkic-Muslim ethnic groups are arbitrarily detained in China's mass network of concentration camps, where they are subject to pervasive state surveillance, forced interrogations, political indoctrination, torture, and forced labor”
Apart from being gassed to death it not far off what nazi germany did in ww2.
And you are calling for china to lead the world!!!!!!!!!
@ crawshawAll the way through the ages there has been wars from the very beginning and this one is no different and won’t be the last.
More people take notice of this because it’s close to home but when African countries have had genocides world leaders and people have looked away.
Some people have been in this since way before the war and yes have an interest in whether thier life’s saving and sacrifices will go up in smoke.
Thier will never be world peace as one war ends another will start.
Look at rns demerger dated 8th February 2022 which is final demerger details and the rns of demerger dated 11 mar 2022 which is cancelled due to sanctions which in effect ofsi and government indirectly cancelled
that was where the wedge of cash would have come from
“ EVRAZ announces today that it suspends the process of the demerger of its coal assets consolidated under PJSC Raspadskaya (the "Demerger") indefinitely as the Company anticipates clarification regarding regulatory restrictions, both from the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI), HM Treasury, following the Financial Sanctions Notice issued on March 10th, 2022 and from the Russian authorities on the shareholder rights to dispose of the shares received as part of the demerger process.
Many people speculating the worst case scenario which may well happen.
I am wondering how the Russians would work out who loses what as Evraz has investors world wide.
And If this was to happen and we are cut out of Russian assets then the fca would certainly have to refuse to sanction the sale of Evraz NA.
And then it goes back to being suspended to protect shareholders - if Russia sieze assets and shares the way it has been talked Anita what protection have they actually given us
Instead of making a nice wedge of cash off the rasp sale the uk blocked it and now it looks like it will be given away for free.
The only information i see So far is Ian Mr. Aleksey Ivanov has informed the Board of his intention to step down and they updated slavery act and uk tax strategy surely they wouldn’t call a massive AGM just for this and other than that There is very little information available.
Thankyou for your quick reply is much appreciated
I have found that this UK-based international financial services company ITI Capital has become a trading member of AIX.
Has anyone come across or had any dealings with them?
I think many will see something back they have a lot of assists and they claim to have cash in the bank to pay debt.
It’s more of a waiting game if you are young enough to Waite out the sanctions which will probably take an ice age to clear.
Why are Evraz still suspended according to the FCA rules below are reasons of why a company would be suspended but they do not match the reasons why Evraz was originally suspended.
It’s about time Evraz gave all holders a firm response in what counter actions they are taking. They cannot sit by idly and recieve slanderous accusations/allegations without proof
The FCA may suspend, with effect from such time as it may determine, the listing of any securities if the smooth operation of the market is, or may be, temporarily jeopardised or it is necessary to protect investors.
(2) An issuer that has the listing of any of its securities suspended must continue to comply with all listing rules applicable to it.
(3) If the FCA suspends the listing of any securities, it may impose such conditions on the procedure for lifting the suspension as it considers appropriate.
Examples of when FCA may suspend .....................................................................................................
G Examples of when the FCA may suspend the listing of securities include (but are not limited to) situations where it appears to the FCA that:
(1) the issuer has failed to meet its continuing obligations for listing; or
(2) the issuer has failed to publish financial information in accordance
with the listing rules; or
(3) the issuer is unable to assess accurately its financial position and
inform the market accordingly; or
(4) there is insufficient information in the market about a proposed transaction; or
(5) the issuer's securities have been suspended elsewhere; or
(6) the issuer has appointed administrators or receivers, or is an
investment trust and is winding up; or
(7) for a securitised derivative that relates to a single underlying
instrument, the underlying instrument is suspended; or
(8) for a securitised derivative that relates to a basket of underlying instruments, one or more underlying instruments of the basket are suspended; or
(9) for a miscellaneous security that carries a right to buy or subscribe for another security, the security over which the listed miscellaneous security carries a right to buy or subscribe has been suspended.

I very much hope they don’t sell ENA
They don’t need the cash as they claim to have the money to pay the bonds albeit only sanctions are preventing them making the payments
Evraz North America is piling up loads of cash in their accounts and none is going to the main company
rasp is producing and making alot of cash so a sale is not needed to pay debt
And if they sell ENA then I believe we all would need compensating for the loss in value of assists just like they planned originally from the sale of rasp assists but the share price will not recover all that well when we exit suspension
ENA is probably the only thing keeping us from losing all our cash because I Am only thinking out loud but if ENA is sold then is very easy for the Russians to privatise and lock is all out of our investments.
Some may agree and others disagree but don’t see any good coming from a sale
Seems an odd move to sell NA Evraz
At last rns Evraz claimed they had the money to pay off the note holders but where restricted due to sanctions.
With Rasp still on thier books and making a lot of money and if all remember the sale of rasp fell through and was cancelled due to the sanctions so I can’t see how the regulators would allow a sale of highly profitable assets of NA
NA are making a lot of money but none of it is going to the main company and they are able to pay thier bills under special licenses, and should also have a bank load of cash so what happens to the cash pile if where sold.
As per rns 10th aug 2022 “ EVRAZ plc did not receive and does not plan to receive any income from the activities of ENA”
Unless I am not seeing something what benifit will a sale of the assets provide.
It has been months and months with no updates on if the sale is actually happening or any progress reports and I would of thought a sale would of already been completed by now.
Musk bought twitter mega fast and that deal involved a lot more money than this sale would generate.
Who knows when this will trade again.
evraz was temporarily suspended by the FCA in April/may 2022 then in November 2022 SANCTIONS where IMPOSED ON MR. ABRAMOV AND MR. FROLOV.
They said temporarily suspended but how long that will be is anybody’s guess, but the issues with the original wording of “may have” or “could have” in the original reason given in RNS is not proof neither has any update been given in media or from government to confirm this and no prof has been given suggest.
it has all gone very quiet. It would be useful to all if either Evraz updated everyone on what direction they are taking and if they are making a fight back if any or if the government gives evidence to back up the allegations, and usually if their was evidence of allegations I’m sure the media would’ve been all over this but seen or heard nothing
It looks like Europe and some organisations are softening stance on Russia and Belarus.
Both The Olympic committee want the countries to participate in the next games and now Wimbledon has lifted the ban for athletes provided they do not get funding from the state and compete as neutrals
If this continues then the uk govt can’t keep suppressing Evraz whilst it allows other organisations to start getting back to some normality
They are small steps but hopefully ones in the right direction for evraz
The uk along with European countries inc France has sold multi million pounds worth of arms since the 2014 war. Their have been numerous articles disclosing this.
Bp still has assists in Russia that have yet to be sold and are only written off but can just as easily be put back on their books.
Sunaks wife and family still has businesses in Russia and taken good dividends off them
A lot of people have been investing since before The war began inc the 2014 crimea.
Uk and Europe still buy gas and oil and have done since the war at inflated prices, even if not now directly through Russia they do so indirectly by middle countries.
Sanctioning Evraz is just a rain droplet in a lake if they wanted to strangle Russia they could of via oil and gas
The simple reason is the poster boy. The uk government use of terms “may have” “ could have” “potentially” is not proof they did and it is still yet to be proved
RA poster boy sanctioned by uk because his direct links to putin - everyone who knows or that was close to putin has been killed in some way or another so is he really that close as he still alive
The uk gov should either prove the allegations or drop sanctions- in uk you are innocent until proven Guilty
It is about time Evraz make a fight back through the courts.
The ukgov have been disgraceful but Evraz has rolled over and taken all the crap.
I hope other listing resumes soon but My concern is what are they hiding to not have started the legal fight back already
