Yep- and same in all countries (although the majority control is centralised here for example).
This is why I mentioned fear of recession adds a key element now into the FEDs hawkish stance.

The pound is tanking, the pound is crashing, the market are crashing, the markets are tanking.... and so on for the last 2 weeks (tomorrow) since the "mini budget" crap...

The reality now- the day before the mini budget the pound is where is ~where it is now and the FTSE 100 is now ~where it was before the "mini budget"

So in terms of balance, where was the media announcements was the pound is rocketing, the markets are rocketing, the markets are rocketing...

And why is no one hammering the BofE for not raising rates sooner, where it clear to see, and not warning people of this on it's way like every other country on the planet? Useless waste of space, they have one job, and fail.

The deeper the detail the more irrelevant it becomes.
Like I said, and keep on saying... each month CPI rules, top and drop and markets bounce and opposite causes opposite. FED bets now would normally be more tightening eg over the .75 then .5/.25... so hawkish. However, the fly in the ointment this time for the FED is as the months pass with high inflation, recession risk increases so this adds a key component. Time will tell...

Higher than expected and core higher, hence immediate drop on gold and markets.

Below forecast will show drop for the second month in a row, which will be bearish for the USD and hence good for pretty much everything, and will, until next monthly data, shift the narrative to a more dovish FED to relax tightening, end it sooner etc- the opposite will also be true alas on all fronts if data reveals increase.

There are always winners in down turns- just after COVID dark initial days, recovery time it was tech companies, and in cost of living tough times there are always winners too- which is why "the whole market overpriced" is never possible in my view

Lol Tony- so what exactly is "broken"? Some says it's already broken, some say it has been broken since 2008, some say it's been broken since 1989- what is the definition of broken? It will never be broken for some. I for one has stocks, pensions, property so for a financial system being broken is that it's all worthless and my cash can't even buy a pint of milk- that's broken to me... headlines on press yet again are hyperbolic like they have been and continue to be.

It's all about Weds US CPI data now... flat or down and everything will jump as FED will become dovish- opposite news and opposite reaction- could be more of a slight sell down up until then... be a good time for so CEY news in the next 2 days.

Yes- as expected- key next week is inflation CPI in US. topping/downturn will bring boost everywhere and make the next one after that 0.5 or or .25 which looked like a possibility when we saw the rally this week.

I remain of the view as I have been for months and months that inflation will top and drop this calendar year- indications look like it has topped in US (and only interested US as ROW tends to follow...)- and will begin to drop- gold got a jump this week due to this as FED bets are looking like 1 hike, then another less hike, then that's it... this could, of course, change- but markets are poised around this. Yet again, I repeat, this is nothing like 2008 and other recessions, inflation is nothing like previous inflation surges- stocks will rise and CEY along with this (and along with inflation drops)... For the last year I've listed to so many doomsayers and the hyperbole is bordering on bizarre and ridiculous as are the increasing number of "experts" pushing their views and agendas on youtube, gaining fortunes from their "click-bait" headlines. I maintain the doomsayers have been correct 2to3 times in 30 years and anyone with half a brain can see that those who stayed in have made far more money than they ever have... so for me, short and medium term this is a hold for me and buy (if i had already not hit my max for gold miner investments as part of my portfolio)

Blimey Sotolo, taking out a £520,000 mortgage when rates were at virtually an all time low was a massive risk! Coupled with your massive losses on CEY- if I were you I would have never kept my CEY for so long but sold out and have a fraction of a mortgage- I really hope your fixed rate is for a heck of a long time...
