My strategy is similar- my highest risk is also crypto- most of money is tied up in property and private pension (which is managed by someone else for me and I keep equity globally based for balance), cars. I play with my gambling money on cey and some miners and other high risks stocks along with crypto. I see to CFD on gold and major indices, had several wins and got profits wiped out and hit a loss in 1 bad move so don't bother with that anymore as too high risk for me :-). Good luck Spoonington- well done the other day. As you say no one knows precisely the direction, I recall a few months ago when s and p hit the 3600's it was certain to keep going down and yet it went back up the circa 4300 and lots of people lost a packet... time will tell but with my main pension equity is the way to go as the drawdown will take the rest of the my life, so plenty of time for recoveries and gains and the trend doesn't lie across every indice

I remain confident that inflation rapid rise will fall back, I've been saying this for ages - many predicted the fed would be less hawkish as recent inflation data markets showed topping in the USA and this remains the case- the markets reacted to the fed stating they would continue to whack inflation hence the drop in markets and gold in general. Had they not done this, markets would have risen but dropped back later and harder out of fear with any negative future data- volatility is key and essential for markets- the trend is indeed the friend which has been one way in history- unless you invest in 1 sector or even 1 share which is total madness. As is total madness is trying to guess drops- the long term is littered with doomsayers, missing out on superb gains- just look at the 30year plus trend and they've all lost- of course, like high risk stuff, crypto, gold miners etc these are fun to trade daily, weekly and monthly as a small % of overall portfolio

Reminder for those interested in potential short term movements...

Spoonington- I hope for reverse eg a dovish fed or at worse a less hawkish one- markets today seem to be pointing to this, but who the heck knows, tomorrow may provide more temporary clarity. I would wish you luck but want the opposite to you- all's fair in love and war and markets lol

Apologies for not reading all the posts so my question may already be answered. But any idea when my share here will get turned into the 1.10 or do I just sell them now? Pros and cons please if anyone can help

Sotol, when people criticise the media (and am speaking for myself and others I know), it's the "no choice media" eg BBC, ITV, FREEVIEW etc which you have to have by paying the mandatory license fee if you are a UK citizen. Without doubt they over hype, it's in their interests to keep people watching, so they get paid. The root out small stories and sensationalise- my mother at 82 was terrified by COVID, simply terrified by watching this mainstream media. I went to see her today and all she went on about was "lawless Britain"- the headline after that awful girl killing yesterday- the small print I found was that we are at the lowest point for 20years for gun dis-charges, and yet from the headlines, you'd had thought there was anarchy on the streets... 2 * 40degrees days and a few field fires and it was Britain is burning, climate change etc etc and again small print found these fires were started nit by the sun. It's like the hyperbole has gone bonkers....

Guess we'll see what he says tomorrow...

I don't know why people complain on what people type- I just simply ignore if I don't like, I find it wastes about 2 secs to per post to skim.
It's called freedom of speech, and I for one am happy for people to post what they want even if I disagree with what they post- sometimes I ignore, sometimes I engage- it's a public BB.

The media are not the messenger- they are biased which is my point. 1 in 2 of us will get cancer- and yet cancer research was cut in half because of COVID- bonkers. If you look at the stats, doesn't matter what approach you took (bar the bonkers outliers like AUS) death rates were similar but economic costs vastly different- media are to blame for the massive overreaction to covid- by limiting opposition to measures. Now, ironically, same are asking for more govt help- ignoring the fact that their approach to covid is responsible for the current nhs crisis- ensuing deaths to cancer etc- far greater than the number saved - bonkers

Headline news on itv this morning- "facing a countdown to chaos", "people forced this winter between freezing and starving", "many more business will close their doors good", " stark warning for business and charities that Britain faces a winter like no other" and that was in the first minute! 2 weeks ago we were all burning in the climate meltdown, 2 years ago we were all going to die of covid! Media hyperbole- hey guys, joined up thinking... if you spend 500billion they ain't much left now lol- and you want to help Ukraine but not attack Russia(eg you don't mind Ukrainians dying) well again, there are consequences ... still media, you're ok, keep spinning the waffle and your money keeps rolling in-

Yep and they still get their % whether ur pension goes up or down...
