Major shareholders27 Apr 2018 13:37
A big concern is the list (or lack thereof) of major shareholders. Back in 2015 9 major shareholders comprising Schroeders, Deutsche Bank, Aberdeen Asset Group, Montanaro and Norges Bank Investment Management controlled about 27% of the shares. They have all disappeared from the list. Amjad controls about 20% of the shares (up from 10%) and the employee trust benefit has 5%. Baillie Gifford is still there but has not changed number of shares and have therefore gone down from 9% to 6%. Obviously this is an opportunity but a damning statement by the major financial actors that they don't believe in AB. It is like Arsenal supporters staying away in droves until the board sacked Arsene Wenger. Here AB won't do the same obviously but he needs to realise that the financial community don't believe in him.
