I have been playing around with fuel consumption on very big container ships. VLCS. 500 tons is a conservative average per day and Evergreen have 14 of there largest either working or being built. If you look at Marine Traffic the number of ships is mind boggling. With oil more or less doubling in price it must be a major reason to question is making things and shipping them around the world is barmy if you can make it local. Final straw is Madame Spin has been told she has to return to the office in two weeks time so she has handed in her notice and says she will get her husband to look after her. Is it any wonder many are getting the hump. Last April I opened a regular saver with a building society boasting 3.5%. I was able to deposit 500 quid a month ind in a couple of months time I will get 112.50 interest. The money will then revert to .42%.
The new regular saver now pays 1%. We have inflation of around 5% so both are big losers. Answer invest in the the stock market. Plonk a load into a fund and get regular dividends only to find you go nowhere becsause it is a dividend trap. What one must do is invest in more risky ventures like oil companies and tech stocks. Then you rerally apprecate the building society The way forward is buy a clapped out house. Do it up a bit and sell it three years later for 120k profit all tax free and look around for another one. My son is cleverer than me.. Ps Did I spot romaron down the council tip over the weekend taking plastic out of the re cycling bin and throwing it in the one for landfill shouting every little bit helps!!
