sure, low oil price might cut both ways. it eats
badly into adme’s short/medium term cashflow,
since the only income is from those aje wells.
but it may mean that would-be sellers of O&G
assets get a bit more desperate to strike a deal, so
that could be helpful for adme. however, if oil is
likely to stay low for a fair old whole, that means
adme needs to be careful of the project economics
for any new ventures, as some assets OO might be
looking over may not be viable in a world of $40s oil.
(and even if OO is not careful, Trafigura sure will be.)

charlie, i think the question for 2020 is more about
protecting the dividend, rather than raising it, jmo.

they will have to be a bit careful with their sequencing & timing, as
most prospective placees won’t want to get trapped holding placing
shares in a stock suspended because of a potential RTO, so they will
need to organise announcements to allow time to offload some
shares on a news spike (which will be in competition with peel). aimo.

manifesto, the last confirmation statement makes it clear
that some people *are* still able to sell whetstone shares
even though britdaq has washed its hands of whetstone.
if you look, you will see that some people have still traded
whetstone shares well after the date britdaq dumped ‘em.

(and still plenty more waiting to be dumped imho, if they can
manage to talk up sentiment in their ‘captive audience’ - e.g.
those 8.5 million 0.1p shares probably not in v. sticky hands?
— if they could find some poor schmuck willing to pay 2p for
those 8.5 million, that’s still a decent payday for someone...)

if you think i am wrong in my calculations about
cash balances & cash burn (as previously posted),
then i’d be very happy to see your own numbers.

but the company itself has already told you via RNS
that it’s pumped up less oil than it had hoped, well
performance has declined, oil price is weak, and the
company has *increased* its spending on BoD & staff
costs, & won’t be cash-positive or profitable in 2020.

helps to pump the price up a little for the next placing.

it makes no difference to their current cash balances, &
i think they will run out of cash somewhere around end
of march. so fund-raising needs to happen pretty soon.

it is now more than 8 months since whetstone said on 29th may
that it would publish quarterly updates. however it has provided
none. so still no explanation for the defenestration from britdaq,
still nothing about what happened to the NARC deal, still nothing
about the proposed two new material investments that whetstone
wrote about in January 2019, no explanation from whetstone
about the massive dilution in october‘19 when it issued 8.5 million
new shares for just 0.1 pence per share (...possibly pay for directors,
in lieu of cash? - if so, what on earth have they done to deserve it?),
no comment from whetstone about those massive sales of whetstone
shares by biggar’s company GSC back in march 2019, which were only
very recently revealed in the confirmation statement on 20/1/20, etc.

[info re that massive dilution, & GSC’s share sales in march ‘19,
can be viewed on the companies house website in the filings
for whetstone made on 20/1/20, 21/1/20, & 22/1/20, ‘tho oddly
GSC’s own website still claims that it owns 67% of whetstone.]

whetstone is due to publish its accounts by the end
of this month, so if they do publish those might shed
some light on what’s going on inside the company.

meanwhile, the next liquidator’s report on WRN
is probably due circa march, if I remember correctly.

i don’t think peel hunt will hit problems by getting near 30%,
as this company will need to do a chunky placing within the
next two months, imo, & that will dilute peel’s holding anyway.

must be busy times in the offices of china special situations funds.
something like this throws up opportunities and elephant traps.

also just for context, about a century ago spanish flu infected
about a third of the entire human population of the planet,
and killed between 10-20% of those infected ... so jury is still
out about how nasty a viral beastie this one will be. black
death in the 14th C killed circa 50% of all Europeans, but it
needed several outbreaks in a row to achieve that, and was
bacterial rather than viral. 2020 not starting off terribly well.
