Pritch, if you are a pi who uses a platform such as HL, and trades US instruments or receives dividends etc from US companies, then usually HL would ask you to complete relevant forms to declare why you are not required to pay US taxes (or to admit that you are), so that HL could then pass on the correct payment to you. in the absence of such a form, HL etc would have to act as though you might be liable to pay US taxes.

if amit is telling the truth and all is good for holders, then i would expect that once cloudtag has actually given HL etc. proper concrete and detailed info about what they are actually doing, then HL would let their pis know what forms if any are required ( + bear in mind that some holders of nominee accounts with major investment platforms will already have lodged such forms, if for example they are already buying and selling US stocks / bonds).

Who knows, quantum universe, anything is possible, even amit might deliver if things like quantum entanglement are real.

… meanwhile, still no independently verifiable information about any aspect of these deals. no public announcement from the Daap buyer. no info about who the responsible agent is, so that people can check their credentials and verify that it’s not just amit wearing a wig.

most crucially of all, no money yet received in any pi accounts.

if amit delivers, then holder pis will all be happy, and i will think it’s been an intriguing, baffling, and ultimately very surprising story, so well worth watching for the fun of it and the twists and turns.

if amit doesn’t deliver, then the soap opera will keep on delivering further far-fetched story-lines into 2024 and beyond.

i’m sure it will all just work out fine. after all, when has amit ever failed to deliver on anything he’s promised before?

Companies like cloudtag cause huge amounts of misery and hardship for many ordinary investors. it’s worth keeping an eye on them, to minimise the chances of new blood getting suckered in, and where possible to provide relevant info to FCA etc. if left unchecked, peeps like amit just go on decade to decade, leeching honest folks who are a bit too trusting.
