Down 6.73% now. Not looking good for Thursday.......

Well this is certainly very interesting. If large sales can be snapped up then clearly there are buyers out there. The extreme rises last week and the upcoming results will no doubt encourage profit taking, and that may all be happening now. What puzzles me is that each day there appears to be more buys than sells yet the SP slides down. Currently 2.5% down with one trading day to go. However if the market does not like the results then we could see serious buying from Thursday onwards as what happened on the DOJ news. I'm certainly hoping we have it the bottom now, but SP suggests otherwise. GLA

Hi TL. I see you've popped over from the IQE board. I'm invested here and like you, am concerned with the the market sentiment regarding the earnings release on Thursday. The current daily decline does seem to indicate less than a thumbs up form the market at the moment. I hope I'm wrong, but there's caution, and selling before the results I think.

Whats the consensus on the expectations for the earnings release on the 2nd May. Up, down or stay the same? Am unsure whether to put in or just hold.

No evidence as yet. Its been seen in other stocks that are shorted that a stock acquisition can also be loaned out. As INDV doesn't appear to be heavily shorted then this may indeed be a confidence boosting buy. But then it doesn't explain the dramatic drop at the time of the RNS. I'd like to know the reason for the fall. All eyes on tomorrow for a hopeful rise in the SP.

I suspect that as Standard Aberdeen has acquired more stock, they could also be able to loan more out to shorters. I think this worry pushed the SP down. It fell off a cliff edge just as the RNS came out. I hope I'm wrong but I've seen this happen in a number of other stocks. Lets hope for the best though. Come on 50s !

I would have thought that by this time on a Friday that there would be profit taking after the spectacular rise this afternoon, but its still rising. This could be an indication of a promising open on Monday. Though I'm in two minds as to whether to put in now or not. Decision, decisions.......

Maybe another chance here to buy early 30s. Missed the 29s this morning. Though am always aware that Fridays are often sell off days, particularly late afternoon towards the end of trading.

Interestingly IQE is one of the few stocks rising today. Perhaps not surprising as I think it was oversold yesterday and looking very worrying when in the 68's. What is surprising is that there are more sells than buys so far today. Am hopeful of a return upwards from here.

Glens's just taken a hit on the Yanks opening. Looks like a drop in coppers is the cause as all miners have followed suit. Briefly in the 326's so maybe this is the beginning of the drop we've been expecting. Been out of Glen for the past month just hanging around for the fall. C'mon Glenda !

Well all of the last weeks rises has gone and we're back to where we were last Friday. About 7-8% of value has gone since Tuesday alone. Very disappointing, and what was looking like a slow but steady return is reversing. I can't see anything in the market to explain this other than fresh shorts opening. Gutting as one suspects that a return to the 60s is on the cards before any bounce back. Will nothing rescue this share ?

Looks like T Rowe Price have increased their holdings, presumably to loan out for potential shorters. With this price drop today it may already be happening.

Yes strange isn't it. Though I suspect it would be more to do with the amount of simultaneous buys and sells going on at the time you were placing your buys. If there were an equivalent number of sells being placed at the same time as your buys, then both cancel each other out, and the SP remains the same.

I think that's a classic way that shorts are placed. Multiple small placings in rapid succession. If a short were to be placed in a large chunk then this could push the SP down and wouldn't benefit the shorter who needs to get the maximum number of shares sold at the highest price possible.
