What they make off the risk is spread pays for any shares they then have to sell at a loss This is why big spread shares, the market maker sees they may be in a position as you rightly say that they could be left with shares and have to move those at a loss, hence they make the spread large to 1) deterrent to buy or trade and to take some of the risk away from them or 2) have a large spread to cover that risk as their profit is the difference between bid/ask

Moonglow, there are plenty to good sites to explain how mm move but I can assure you I’m correct ;-) This is why they are paid “for that risk” ie commission and/or spread NT is simply bargaining prices between buyers and sellers

they have to absorb sells, even if there are no buyers, under market rules they are there to create a market so can not turn down a trade when you ask to sell. It will likely have nothing to do with “worked buys” If they have an excess of shares they will either look to sell at high ask (ie again why we have a high spread to account for their risk), or they will sell at a loss They simply try not to accumulate shares as it’s against a market makers risk profile (in theory)

...and they don’t want to be left with stock they can’t sell, and alternatively they don’t want to be in a position whereby they have to buy stock to create a market if good news does arrive, again making them lose money This is why they will discourage trading as they don’t want the risk on their books for this given stock It’s just how MM work They have to buy and sell legally to create the market but they will often and always ensure their position is protected and any buying and selling reflects their risk of the book

I’m essence the market maker sees the stock as high risk to keep on its books, hence the wide spread to discourage buying/selling ie trading Your correct, they make money off the spread but that is in effect a market makers margin for taking the risk of holding the book, thus open spread dictates a high risk stock in the market makers eyes

The currently is they need to start closing the spread It strikes me that the Market Maker does not want to trade in this stock hence looking to discourage anyone to trade. At present the large spread is making the stock too illiquid temporarily making buyers not wanting to buy, and sellers not wanting to sell their stock. Once the MM start to close the spread then we can expect a very good rise imo You guys need liquidity here, which hopefully you’ll get next week

Off topic question for the very experienced (sorry I just know many on this board are incredibly knowledgeable) I’m in another share and not sure if MM can change the time/date on a trade? I assume not, but a very odd price came in which makes no correlation to the ask/bid/trades at the time I know it’s off topic and the board is busy with FRR so no offence taken or ignored!! It’s an interesting point as I can’t see any trades around that 7.71 mark Granted alwyas hard to tell (unless your the buyer or seller) but trades where either a fair bit higher, or fair bit lower Interesting either way

Surely we must be fast approaching denjo now. I always said based on other zone drilling timeframes, we were looking 7-10 days. Assume we started drilling worst case 7th as this was stated in that DS interview that day, (and in reality imo they started around 4th), this would give us hit on denjo somewhere between 12th - 17th imo. I have a feeling Wednesday’s interview is for a reason and looking at today’s VERY meaty buys, I’m even more convinced

Thanks coldspy As I’ve always said you have to have a plan and stick to it and ignore the noise I spent some time charting today and know exactly what my buy in will be after selling at 7.21, if I get it great I will be back, if I don’t, always another stock, and such is life can’t win them all

Plus moved it elsewhere this morning and taken a nice 16% gain. Lovely. So right call for me today. End of the day it’s all a game and if you can make a few quid it’s what it’s all about and what everyone is here for

Bigbench wasn’t a “panic sell” it’s called being patient as I know when I will buy back. 7.21 to 7.33 is peanuts mate, few quid. I have my strategy and my buy back point. That’s the name of the game ;-) GL

Andre far from if you read many of my posts I have become frustrated with certain posters claiming to either know it all, refuse to have a reasoned discussion before throwing insults, or simply posters that cut and paste sections of posts in order to make people look stupid (as you now feel I am but, and without disrespect haven’t read the weekends post) which is because certain people like to lie and twist I never need validation from anyone on any post or any strategy, I can assure you! Coldspy why do you have to be so abusive towards people ? Was it because I didn’t answer your question. Now, your point on “no one listening”. I will give you very valuable piece of advise.... It is just as important if not more important to cut a loss as well as a profit. As you seem to need this explained in laymen terms....I sold at 7.21 it is now 6.73 to sell....so if I had stayed I would have been even further at a loss...hence the importance to limit a loss. Now I also have the ability to buy back in and gain more shares or wait for a further fall. So....coldspy, explain to me what is a such a terrible strategy there (given I will be back in, likely with more shares for free) end of the week. This is why some should not listen to you my friend, not the other way around. In terms of Tase, you have proven my point and your comments is the exact reason why I no longer post my “opinions or views” as it’s a waste of time Please don’t comment further, I have no interest any longer in justifying myself (not that I actually need to) and you shouldn’t need my advise on the Tase issue, surely you “know it all” like most here, so no need for me to add :-)
