I guess not working in absolutes because the future isn't set in stone, so if revenue suddenly plummets they have other options but one they would not want to pursue first, which is appropriate if we want the mine built and the company to survive in the long run

We are failing to break the 8p ceiling because I bought more shares over the last few days, so of course the price had to go down.

Suspicions here on MTL being the potential buyer of BMV?

The timing of this RNS with BMV's potential sale announcement a few days earlier and their relative proximity in the Philippines gives me hopes for another expansion project of high ore concentration that is relatively easy to mine with recently renewed permit available.

MTL might end up accelerating even faster than we hoped.

There is no time frame for the permitted mines on the condor presentations as late as mid 2024, nor on the MTL pages. It is also not available on the government website for Nicaragua from what I have searched for. Do you have any reference for your statements?

Asking MTL directly at a shareholder meeting also seems like the easiest way to answer your question

Almost all the comments under the youtube video are negative about mining lol. As long as MTL keeps up the quality of reforestation it did before hopefully minds can be changed over time.

The mine will represent 30% of gold production in Nicaragua (end of the video it is stated). That will be huge and hopefully the country will move to defend and assist production if the contributions are as expected.

The trade issue risks making the debt problem unsustainable. That's the whole point of it and why the USA despite taking this approach doesn't have the time to absorb a collapse in trade and tax invoices.

The moment any doubt is cast on the USA's negotiation with China the price will probably spike up again with the price of Gold. China's silence in the current state of negotiations is very telling

Gold is better than copper for similar use cases, just so much more expensive it is not worthwhile for cost. High end audio loves using gold, and it has great conductive properties. Solar panels made with gold are also more efficient than silver or copper.

So Gold isn't a fiat type situation as it has genuinely useful properties, just always too expensive to realise in other contexts. However that it is useful will always prevent it dropping down to valueless as well.

Preserving wealth yes, but why gold other than the historic value and interest of gold in an era where hard assets have many other viable forms is a bit more of a debate. I back gold because such a strong idea like gold doesn't die, people in times of crisis revert to what they know, and everyone knows gold. Others buy art, homes, businesses etc. so moving fiat into assets does not have to be gold only. If everyone bought gold only, we would be on the verge of a societal collapse. Even Lebanon and Zimbabwe didn't go that far.

I agree with Major's core argument. The rationale for gold is not logical, it is a safety holding when people lose faith in an global economic system that fundamentally works on trust, and trust is being eroded.

World Gold Council does post some interesting data on central banks purchasing which does seem to be up over the years, so likely a reflection of sentiment eroding on existing financial streams. It can't be that bad though as some central banks still not holding that gold within their own borders.

That's the beauty of MTL in general. Low overhead, low workforce cost, profit even with low metal value.

It's fine. At earnings and with a relative drop in gold price compared to the upswing of recent days floating around 7p is still very strong. All we need is another Trump escapade to watch the price shoot up again as people flock to gold

If they are paying costs in dollars and gold is climbing that chunk higher in dollars, the increased mining cost from currency depreciation will be made up for by the relative increase in the value of gold in said currency. Better this way than converting between currencies where you pay extra on top for exchanging between them for what is ultimately comparable value

The moment next mine is cemented with production at new sources we should be flying. Given recent presentations production costs are expected to stay the same as now which means great profit margin which is easily maintained, as well as additional resource from new minerals.
