Maybe STM messed up but the whole thing is so cloaked we will never know. At the interim presentation Dimitri said apple dropped STm's swir work on mobile phones. We know from J Steckel that stm were looking for a big customer to justify qd sensor dev and defence is small scale compared to mobile phones. nano was aware of all these small niche markets for sensors and said they would pursue, we have none yet but dimitri says they are talking to 5 of 10 targets.

Away from sensors our ceo is getting increasingly excited about qd automotive paint in the context of pv. He's given very little detail other than its massive. Can get a lot of dots in a pot of paint.

The Graham Circle investor note was a better play after it's author presumably bought in. Nano is a value punt based on its sale value being higher than current mkt cap with the risk outlined that if doesn't sell you have 2 years to get out before the money runs out. Lots to speculate about on that latter point but we're meant not to be doing that in this place, apparently.

IF no bids they want to engage with they should do an rns, accept they will want to wait until they have some positive news to pair it with.

If they have bids their negotiation priorities will be how much autonomy runcorn gets, how staff can earn in to fractional ownership or profit share in the future. They will have an acceptable price for a sale, we benefit if there is more than one strategic or finance fund chasing after them. If they rns that bids are plural we get wild times for months.

Agree that there isn't much between the views. I think 50-70m is a low bid that they would accept from a financier, you would be happy with a bid of that size anyway.

LG would be a bad buyer. Withdrew from mobile, no interest in sensing, would just be to shut up the display case. How would that match what the ceo says on the sale process finding investment for the future of the company? So, no unless a big bid they won't accept an offer from LG.

I don't read the dual strategy cynically and think well he has to say that doesn't he. They are looking for investment in their ideas. He has said that repeatedly. So they are looking for a certain type of buyer. Obviously a big cash bidder would test their resolve on that score.

Why ? You can probably buy the whole shooting match with £15m cash in it for 25p a share…£35m net

How?

The company has a dual strategy.

Not a fire sale and no pressure to sell. So if no private equity or silent partner investor offering golden handcuffs to Dr P and his scientists why sell low? if there is no high bidder offering enough for Dr P to get a Tuscan villa and vineyard for his 7m shares and a pot of cash, let's say bids circa 100m then they withdraw from cdx.

Anyway weak hands until news.

Personally i'm less downbeat on their prospects if nothing comes of cdx. I don't think the new ceo and chair bought shares for a quick profit on the sale of the company but i see the risk that unless they make things happen funding through share issue or debt will be required late next year. However, a settlement with lg prior to all of that is pretty likely. Explains why licensing was number 1 on the ceo's strategy doc at the fy presentation.

If cdx doesn;t lead to anything, service fees from the new jda cover legal on lg and there are only small production runs in 2026 for small scale sensor projects then they can't see 12 months funding by Jan 2027 interims implying a fund raise late 2026. Need a win against lg or the chinese knocking on POE's door for some indium.

If LG are supplying qd lcd to apple i think nano might want a bit more than that for licensing in addition to damages for qd tv's sold.

More convinced by his business dev plans than the cdx stuff. One moment it's about nano seeking investors but when forced to talk timetables it's bid and indications of interest. Cdx answers always feel scripted. Could as easily end up with a new major shareholder being issued 80 mill shares at a preferential price as a private equity co getting the company for a low price. I don't think they are looking for a buyer outside of PE. With that said my preferred outcome is a settlement with lg within the next 14 mths which would probably secure funding to end of decade and see them into large scale production runs.

Only annual t/o figure i've seen for Shoei was 450m usd. LG is probably a bit more than that and they make the product.

There is a patents stat site, you may have linked to it perhaps. Which gives 14 months as average time to resolve with 70% settling before adjudication. Average legal cost 500k plus 1m bond against defendant winning.

2 to 4 years for the ones validated by ptab in the samsung case. But the majority of other patents have a much longer life. 2 to 4 years is enough to resolve LG and wipe out nanosys.
