Another robust day for IAG despite the rest of the market sipping on the Welsh lockdown news. Again proves that this stock is resilient to short term bad news. Buyers are looking beyond the next 6 months. Just need to decide whether to top up again now or after the financial update??

Amongst the things the Guardian is moaning about:

“Boohoo has also faced controversy over an executive pay plan that would hand bosses £150m if shares in the online fashion retailer rise by two-thirds over the next three years. Co-founders Mahmud Kamani and Carol Kane would each receive £50m, or a third of the payout.”

Why would they set this target? Because they know they will achieve it!!

Ouch that hurt my holding! Really hope this is is a non-event and there is nothing bigger lurking below the surface of this RNS. Will soon know...

WAM that is not correct. The rates of infection were higher in March there just wasn’t the testing regime in place to record the positive cases. If the rate was higher now the hospitals would be overflowing and the Nightingale hospitals in full flow.

Castle jump on board now and make some money. The MMs won’t be waiting for flying to return to previous levels, they’re just waiting for a safe vaccine which either stops the virus or mitigates the worst of the disease. Remember how fast this share price flew up to 350p last time on much less. As soon as there’s something tangible we’ll fly high.

European particularly London shares very cheap relative to theIr global counterparts

Markets have already priced in a no Brexit deal. In the unlikely scenario there is a deal there would be a bounce upwards but little chance of further downturn. IAG headquartered in Europe anyway so well positioned whichever outcome

I would just like to express my sincere gratitude to those who post enlightening information that is not at all in the public domain. Examples include:
- We are in the second wave of the virus
- lockdown restrictions are increasing
- Country x, y and x is now on the quarantine list

Without this information being posted here I wouldn’t have a clue such things were happening. So thank you for the enlightenment!

Despite what would pre-covid would be considered a catastrophic trading update by Ryanair this morning saying they will operate at 40% Capacity over winter their SP barely moved - down a measly 3%. This demonstrates how travel shares are now so oversold that bad news is barely felt. Travel shares have effectively become desensitised to bad news. Whereas the potential for massive upswings on good news is incredible.

When the SP is this low I’m not worried whether I top up at 110p, 100p or 90p. The only thing this will affect is the size of profit when the SP rallies. After 8 months of negativity and gloom there’s really very little potential for further downside. But the potential for enormous upside is tremendous.

Working in the health sector i know how massive the well publicised elective backlog is and that enormous efforts are underway to start clearing it. IMHO Medica will be right on the receiving end of this so I expect 2021 to be a record year. Hence I have started to invest heavily here as see an easy 50% upturn in SP within the next 12 months.

D9ber1 it won’t take much to swing market sentiment. I have no doubt that the markets will plough into travel shares the moment there is good news because there is enormous pent up demand. I look forward to looking back at this in a years time and feeling smug along with all the other IAG shareholders who held or bought when the market was down.

Second wave will only help Boohoo sales.

Can you imagine the SP if either of the upcoming phase 3 vaccine announcements is positive. If they prevent the virus or even significantly diminish the effects of the virus then we can look forward to a bunker Christmas! That’s why I’m continuing to top up whilst the price is this low. Let’s just hope we’re on Santa’s good list!

I think it is to be expected that some (perhaps many) of the vaccines will not deliver the required outcomes. However, it only takes one vaccine to be a success and there are that many in development I’d like to think at least one if not more will succeed. The Sky news article explains how the ideal aim is for a vaccine to stop the virus altogether but perhaps a more likely outcome is that the vaccine alleviates the worst affects of the disease lowering mortality and morbidity rates notably. Hopefully we will all know within a few weeks

Cheers SS. I imagine that the future direction of the IAG SP will depend much on the outcome of the Two vaccines, made by Oxford University/AstraZeneca and BioNTech/Pfizer, which the article states are expected to release data from key phase 3 clinical trials within weeks.
