New Issues can be done without underwriting for a smaller fee, if demand is expected to be high. Investment Bankers normally charge a much larger fee for underwriting risk (i.e. the risk they will end up with not taken up shares).
In this case, of the £150 million raised, £75 million was firmly taken up by Sir Roger. Of the remaining £75 million required, £33 million was taken up by retail investors. Of the remaining £42 million, Sir Roger picked up £24 million.
So £18 million was picked up by Institutional Investors. This is the overhang that will need to be offloaded before the sp picks up."

Yes Tiger, I made the point about the overhang about a week or two ago, before the RI was concluded. The numbers about Investor take-up, DeHann's take-up etc were provided in an excellent post by someone else. You might need to to troll back a few pages to find it.
Roughly, De Hann took up just under £100 mn (in total) of the £150 mn.
As I recall, Banbury, I calculated that £18 million of the £150 million was left with the Institutions. Given the illiquidity of this stock, there will be pressure while this is offloaded.

If true, that's wonderful news. The Poonavalas of Pune (Poona) in India have already putting in place the necessary manufacturing facilities to roll out 350 million Oxford/AZN dosages in that country and other parts of the third world.
I'm very proud to say my daughter (a graduate in Infectious Diseases from Oxford and same subject Phd from Imperial College - who are also hot footing a vaccine) has been very much involved in the geeky parts of the effort.

Panderman, if you read Pianista's post, the answer is there. He can mop up part of it before he hits the 30% threshold which would require him (under stock exchange, not wild west casino, rules) to launch a full bid. He could not then offer less than 28p per share.
