I put myself up for the abuse, Matty.
Most of them can't string half a sentence together and thus display their wisdom for exactly what it is, warding off the unwary.
Some do occasionally get past and are pulled in by their ravings, but it has been mostly quite effective.

MrCautious, I mostly agree, but would add that there are still (a few) profits to be had.
Flipping' still works, although the opportunities are fewer and fewer the longer the Farce is still running things here and investors get to see through more of his BS.

Apart from last year (lockdown) it usually flies over xmas / New Year, up to Feb end.
I've been selling BP on New Year's Eve and buying back it all back around April/May since 2014.
Dividend's only 4% pa now (from about 6% pre-pandemic) but flipping has grown it to 1/3 of my portfolio (way WAY too much, but I can't sniff at that growth).
Much more valuable than holding for the dividend.., so far.
But I woulda been happy to just do that when I began.

"Averaging down" here is sending good money after bad.
You have to reduce your 'buy-in' price at the cost of even greater risk.
Then only see a return if the price rises.
If it continues to fall, so will your "average".

It never matters if a poster is invested or not.
I keep trying to explain this.
Someone who isn't invested today, might still invest tomorrow.
In fact they might have more reason to invest tomorrow.
But their sentiment is relevant today.
