Very quiet here on day 1 of trading. Doesn't bode well for the share price. And a crazy 10-20% spread. The signals (so far) are not great.

Every tax being rolled out by Labour today is *assiduously crafted* to impoverish and permanently reduce the wealth and success of the bourgeoisie (middle classes).

First, Labour came for the farmland of the bourgeoisie. Soon, they came for the children of the bourgeoisie (private schools). Afterwards, they came for the inheritance of the bourgeoisie. Soon, they came for the corporate bourgeoisie (NI tax). Next, they are coming for the homes of the bourgeoisie (council tax / CGT tax / sales tax / stamp tax / "wealth" tax). Soon, they are coming for your pension and your SIPP.

Make no mistake, this is not about economic growth. There is no growth. What you're living thru -- right now -- is a real-time Marxist revolution. It's really happening.

To find ultra-high-grade gold of 28-34g/t, way higher grades than expected, smackbang in the middle of the gold zone, on the surface, in a tier-1 gold region, in tier-1 gold country, just 6 miles from, and right next to, an already proven working $9 billion gold mine, is very rare. It's an astonishing find.

Yup, the "subsidies" on heatpumps are basically free benefits for middle class people. Someone's gotta pay for those billions. And that means you, the tax-payer and bill-payer.

But, fair play to Labour. They have become extremely skilled at gaslighting the UK population. Say one thing, do another. Works every time. Very clever. Your leccy and gas bills will come down £300... they've gone up. Your working taxes will not go up... ooh, they've gone up. The populace swallow the nice words every single time -- hook, line and sinker. A very clever and refined skill. Labour has mastered the art of persuasion.

All stamp duty and CGT on home and multi-home sales should be scrapped. It's a (nasty) tax on movement, like a mediaeval troll sitting under a bridge. It restricts the freedom of labour (work), and punishes those who want to get on their bike elsewhere for better work. There should be a phased reduction in home taxes. For example, make Northern England stamp-duty-free for 5 years, to give it a boost, then the rest of Southern England after that.

It's not the overall debt that matters, it's *the cost to service it*. A £1m mortgage at 1% APR is cheaper to service than a £50,000 credit card at 30% APR. On face value, you'd panic about the £1m debt, but it's the £0.05m debt that's the real problem. For nation states, it's the same principle. The US pays 3% of GDP on its debt interest, versus 5% for the UK. US debt, for now, looks reasonably affordable. UK debt is 50%+ more expensive, and is nearing unaffordable.

Lloyds are saying there will be no change to iWeb pricing, there will finally be an app or sub-app, and some prices (like monthly regular investing) may even come down. Not convinced, but let's see.

The H2 2025 updated outlook today is a disaster.

The £9-18b total industry cost is way less than the £30-60b worst-case scenarios predicted by some, but it's more than the £1-5b best-case scenarios touted by others. Overall, it's better-than-expected, but still some hefty sums to pay out. An average DCA claim might be around ~£500 per car loan, possibly paid out in 2026 or 2028. Max payout seems to be around £1k per car loan. The LLOY share price might whipsaw around next week and in coming months. The redress scheme looks halfway between good and bad.

Looks like the SC has done LLOY and others a favour, and the banks' final DCA / CD bill is (probably) gonna be around £10-30b, rather than the £30-60b they were looking at just a few days ago.

Monday morning is the big one. How much £££ redress the FCA will (roughly) pay to DCA and case-by-case CD claimants. Hopefully, the FCA can put some numbers flesh on the bone, and stop the uncertainty that has been dragging for the best part of a decade. Some car-loanees were paying up to 55% hidden commission to the banks and dealers (!), so it's unthinkable that there won't be some kind of redress scheme for that on Monday.
