The 'pattern' is just a dropoff due to low liquidity and excessive volatility. It slips back a bit after each leg up, but never as low as it was before. It's 2 steps forward and 1 step back, as it were. This has slipped from 278p on the peak this week back to 258p, to me that's about right and hence went in for more buys today. Remember this was around 230p for the last few weeks. Significant progress has been made.
Lack of sellers = lack of trading = lack of profits for MM. You will see some movement as the MM will want to stimulate some trading, but there is very little stock on the open market and few willing to sell. Normally we blame profit taking for lower prices here, but can't be much selling given the lack of shares available to buy. So if a high price didn't stimulate enough activity, they'll try low.
