Yeah saw that. Not surprised as the US would want to protect profits from Pfizer, Moderna, etc. Also we do know the efficacy of Pfizer and Moderna is slightly better But they can afford to and have the capability unlike Europe and the rest of the world! They can give their doses to Covax and the UK.
SpikeyJ agree. Most of Europe are a tad strange. Considering the raging 3rd wave over there, the unproven casuality and rarity, its a no brainer to continue the roll out. As I am in the NHS and medical field it astounds me that compared to the side effects of so many medicines, so much attention is being drawn to something statistically low. Medicine is always about risk benefit, and in this case I'm baffled how AZN has become a political football with the benefits far outweighig any risk, which is causing more deaths in Europe. I'm not so fussed about the effect it has on my investment (as I know the oncology and growth prospect of AZN, which this is conversely has made a good buy point compared to last year!), but more on the effect on public health/confidence in vaccines. Often people post with not the full context which is irritating to say the least!
30 divided by 18.1 million that's the most important figure.
1. Link still unproven as of yet.
2. Statistically even if proven medically the benefit far outweigh risk. Find out the rate of GI bleeding for ibuprofen, everyone still uses it.
3. MHRA , EMA and WHO all approves and encourage the AZN jab.
Its good they are being transparent but the pharmacovigilance on this is to the extreme and never seen before. At the end of the day no link proven yet and statistically it is a life saving treatment unless you want to get COVID and the AZN jab is doing the donkey work as most countries in the world can't afford the Pfizer (and storage conditions). 30/18.1 million with an unproven link compared to covid most people choose the jab.

Oh look a regulator. Come back with some hard evidence and not speculation, some iota of research on the AZN vaccine and medical/pharmaceutical knowledge before slating the vaccine
Allah4uk don't take any medicine then. I work in the NHS and it is people with attitude like you that spreads fear and misinformation.
Without regulators? You do know the vaccine has been approved by the UK medicine regulator the MHRA? The European regulator EMA? It is also not being sold for profit?
You knowledge shows absolute ignorance.
I love how allah4uk still peddle the thrombosis link. 2 weeks after. So I ate bread 2 weeks before. Was it the bread? With no knowledge of her medical history, or indeed if she was taking other medicines, still making incorrect assumptions. What if she had an underlying thrombotic disease? Unknown cancer? Taking the pill? Until someone proves the link its all speculation.
He still does not understand statistics and how benefits outweigh any unproven risks even if eventually a link is proven. Probably wants a world without medicine or pregnancy.
It is elective, and also the link is unproven. More chance of getting a clot in normal life statistically still.
Also more chance of getting a clot with pregnancy. We know your anti vaxer views, the benefit outweighs any unproven risks unless you want to catch Covid and get a clot then.
Its definitely not good but the pill has more chance of causing clots. Highly doubt its the vaccine. Its funny how Europe is all divided about how to use the vaccine and its become a political football underservedly.
He's a troll. He also doesn't realise all vaccine companies (including Pfizer and Moderna) aren't quite meeting their quota because the process is actually quite complicated. Also the EU contract with AZN is a best effort so it's their procurement fault, different to the UK contract. Probably too complicated for him...
Also your story is totally irrelevant. You don't even know the details in the case. Can you guarentee the person involved didn't take any other substance in the days apart? And guess what how many people have thrombosis and had bread for breakfast. Blame the bread? Oh wait you don't understand statistics.
And you are in denial about vaccines.
Prove there is a link. Do you know if the person in question was taking any other medicines? Any other genetics or medical conditions?
And you are still ignoring statistics. It is statistically lower than having a clot in normal life. And you think you know better than clinical trials (including the one in the US), the EMA, WHO and MHRA?
Stop spreading your anti vaxer values, it's an insult to health care workers like me when you spout unproven links and fear.
And again the link its unproven and statistically it's lower? People do love to ignore the statistics. Ignorance is bliss.
Oh and the US trials also didn't find anything. Then don't get a vaccine or take and medicines I suggest.
Its not shameless damage control. All medicines have a potential for side effect. This is statistically lower than having a blood clot in normal life. I bet you don't take any medicines then?
No one you know has been pregnant before? Higher chance of clots there. It just serves to undermine a life saving treatment. Or you want to catch covid which has a higher incidence for causing clots?
TR64 still ignoring my posts about statistics on adverse effects. No medical knowledge of medicines and side effects and their benefits is an insult to health care workers like me, clearly undermining our efforts. It's okay to question but to give it a false unclaimed yet link, is unfair when we try to explain to people we are vaccinating. I state again, no one will take paracetamol, NSAIDs or anticoagulants once you read all the side effects and figure out how many that can die of adverse events when in fact statistically the AZN vaccine is not more than oral contraceptives, some hormone therapy or even pregnancy.
Its fine if some countries want to be cautious but I refer again to the statistics. Even taken in the account 6 extra yet unproven cases, work out the statistic out of millions of doses given. And we know no vaccine is 100% effective in preventing disease or transmission but they all have been shown to reduce hospitalisation rate and severity. See UK and Israel hospital data.
The overall chance of getting a clot is less than pregnancy or oral contraceptives. Then do we say don't get pregnant? All medicines are done with a risk and benefit. With the benefit so much clearer than the risk. The suspensions do not help confidence and increases the arguement for anti vaxers so it is counter productive. Read every single rare side effect of your drugs and you won't want to take any of them. If the same approach was taken with your common drugs such as aspirin, nsaids paracetamol etc the world would not be using any medicine.
Sure they can question but when like all medicines the benefit outweigh the risk, which has been endorsed by the WHO, EMA and MHRA now, not giving it does more harm in the middle of a pandemic when there is not enough supply already.
How many people die of NSAIDs, aspirin, anticoagulants each year? The risk of taking warfarin, anticoagulants and all other medicines outweigh the risk of the condition.
The fact that it is statistically so rare ( you get more blood clots taking oral contraceptives!) mean it's more beneficial.
