I totally agree with you that pawnbroking is going to be heavily in demand so I have been buying more Ramsdens shares this week at an average price of 179p. I don't understand why Ramsdens shares are at a similar price as they were six months ago while H&T are up about one pound during the same period.

I am lucky that I made numerous substantial purchases a week or two ago as I believe it would have been much harder now as less significant sales seem to be going through the market.

I asked my broker to purchase twenty five thousand shares at best earlier today. I found it interesting that the first two market makers he approached were not interested in selling me shares in that quantity. It looks like they are short of stock.

I agree with you stoodio. I have never seen a company more likely to be a ten bagger than Sylvania Platinum. I just don't understand how it can be rated so lowly by the market if for no other reason than the cash it has in the bank. I also agree its pointless investing money in a bank or bulding society account. Investing is probably the wrong word for anybody who does that!!!!!!

Thank you for many high quality postings on this board it is appreciated. However I think we have to accept that the board has more detailed knowledge about this company than any of us and for me the buyback of shares for cancellation and a recent purchase of shares by a director gives me confidence going forward. I have never seen a company that looks such good value as Sylvania Platinum. If the article last February in the Investors Chronicle is to be believed the company will have more in cash in two years time than its current market value. Having read numerous positive articles about this company in Investors Chronicle and Motley Fool I could not resist building a substantial stake in this company with numerous purchases in the last two months including one at the close of business today. I do hope that my positive views about this company are accurate.

I hope you don't mind me asking stoodio but are you anywhere near the 3% level when you have to report your holding? I will be honest in that I had never even heard of this company until reading about them in the Investors Chronicle earlier this year. I agree with you that they appear to be an absolute steal at this price hence in recent weeks I have purchased over half a million shares in this company.

I have just been speaking on line to Peter Kenyon the chief executive of Ramsdens and he has informed me that Ramsdens will be announcing their interim results on wednesday June 8th.

I spoke on line this morning to Peter Kenyon the chief executive of Ramsdens and he confirmed to me that it is the aim of Ramsdens to pay 50% of after tax profits in dividends with one third of the dividends paid in September as an interim dividend and two third of the dividend paid in March as a final dividend. I believe that this is a fair and reasonable policy as it provides money for both shareholders and for further expansion of the business.

Thank you for your interesting posting re H&T. I have in recent weeks increased my holdings significantly in both H&T and Ramsdens. I see both these companies as great buys at current levels in my mind its a no brainer to invest in both these companies. The financials look great to me with significant earnings per share growth over the years yet the share price has hardly moved hence the very low price earnings ratio.

I rarely look at this site so I have just seen your comments. Part of the reason why it has been a good long term investment was the rerating of the shares which may have had in part something to do with the change of name. When I purchased shares in PZ Cussons over twenty years ago the PE was around seven.

It is true that PZ Cussons has underperformed in recent years however over the long term this company has been an excellent investment with year on year increases in its dividend. I have mixed feelings about any takeover approach because with a holding of 250000 shares I would have a significant tax bill if a cash offer was ever made for this company.

I am pleased to be out even though it was at a significant loss. As I see it there are two issues the first being company specific and you know far more than myself regarding those issues. The second relates to the price of oil which will remain at these depressed levels for quite some time IMHO. Where are you located please may I ask as I note that your posting was done in the early hours of the morning UK time. I must remember that I owe you a drink.

I am so glad that I sold my entire holding in Lamprell a few weeks ago as the share price is likely to fall today due to the just announced delay on completing a rig plus confirmation of the difficult trading conditions.

i believe that you are correct to take with a pinch of salt what is written on the boards. However to ignore all that you read is a step too far in my opinion. Lets give you an example here for a number of years somebody called Chimp choker used to post on the Lamprell board and I took note on what he said. You may remember a few years back two 'directors' of Lamprell made significant share sales at prices in around 340p a share. This gave me real concern and food for thought as to whether I should try and sell my entire holding of just over 1.35 million shares. I decided not to which turned out to be a serious error because a few weeks later Lamprell announced a profit warning and the share price collapsed as you will know. I mention all of this because just after the profit warning Chimp choker posted on the Lamprell LSE board that he had been aware for some time from somebody who works at Lamprell that they were having some serious problems. If only Chimp choker had posted this on the board prior to the profit warning that information in addition to the director sales would have been the trigger for me to sell my holding of Lamprell shares. I don't therefore believe that you should ignore every posting on this board but you need to take into account as you say that they may have a personal agenda.

Thank you nowhere for your interesting posting. You most certainly do appear to know what you are talking about and have genuine concerns about the investors in this company. I most certainly do hope that I made the correct decision to sell my significant shareholding at a large loss but because of my need to fund a property and my concerns after reading a number of postings I took the action that I did by selling me entire holding. Are you willing to tell us who is leaving Lamprell?

I sold my significant holding in Lamprell for multiple reasons firstly I needed a sum of money for a property purchase in Georgia. Secondly I cannot see oil going back to previous high levels for years hence where will the orders be coming from in the next few years. Some of the recent negative postings also made sense to me. What I will say however was that I had no problem selling my holding of over 1.35 million shares so somebody was very positive about Lamprell at these price levels which no doubt was Majedie Asset Management. I am of course upset with myself for not selling out years ago when the two directors sold at around 340pence just weeks before a series of profit warnings.

In a situation like this you can choose to believe the postings or not but the fact is that I have owned the stated amount of shares in Lamprell for many years. At one stage I was making millions of pounds sadly after the profit warnings and further recent falls I sold my holding at a considerable loss. If you don't believe what I am posting so be it my friend.

You are correct of course but what I do know is that what I am posting re my share sales are 100% accurate. The sale at 10-33am was the balance on my holding.
