Gizz I'm sure the demand is there, one of the few facts we know is that investors have paid those prices on JSE by their own freewill. As I said before I'm no expert on this but have done some limited reading and it is my best guess that in normal circumstances international traders and the mm's would, under normal circumstances exploit any discrepancy between the two exchanges in a heartbeat, bringing about parity. As far as I can tell the only reasons for a sustained period of disparity (other than time differences) would be serious fundamental changes in the economic climate of one country compared to the other, an extreme example being if war broke out in the UK while normal life continued in SA. The fact that there was a big gap which grew in plain site all day long suggests for some reason they have been able to execute cross border trades.
