Much better to have a steady rise than a roller coaster as it simply encourages traders.
Shorting companies rely on PI's sense of relief at getting back to break even - many PI's will sell at break even to end the risk of suffering another drop. But holding on is how you will make money and make the shorters pay more than they are willing to to buy back the shares they have taken on loan.
I've been here so many times......but unless you think there is a chance of a company going bust, just hold and remember why you bought in the first place....my biggest regrets have been about selling too early into a rise.....all IMO of course. ATB

I suspect if the company failed, the two directors remaining from the previous will be very pleased and feel vindicated. Perverse incentive as far as I can see. I'm staggered they have not moved on, but some people have no shame. All IMO of course.

Fallen a very long way despite cruising back in action and no indicationinsuranceis not steady as ever. Price of oil no doubt will eat into margins, as will cost of consumables, but still.....I wonder if the chairman will take it private now. I was expecting the SP to be double of what it is. My average is lower than 200 as bought heavily in the early pandemic stage but really should have off loaded some at 400 or so. Genuinely thought this was due much higher. Perhaps it will one day. I am probably in good company being frustrated by the stagnant SP when oil companies are awash with cash and remarkably North Sea oil is fashionable again, less than 1 year since the Glasgow COP meet.
The BoD need to get a grip really and start presenting a plan that is detailed and takes due advantage of the unexpected situation we find ourselves in. So far, the executives seem content with sitting back and taking credit for saving the company when in actual fact they tried to rob it from shareholders.
Senseman - your frustration is clear to see. I filtered simple ages ago and would respectfully suggest you do the same. Many of us here appreciate your input and wisdom. Thanks again for all your efforts.

All indicators seem to be positive - RR will have inflation and raw material issues due to Mad Vlad's war, but this does not justify a drop to these levels given the air miles being clocked up vs during the pandemic.
Anyway, i've added significantly at 79. Time will tell if I was too early on the button. ATB

T4G, save your breath, the doomsayers don't want to hear anything reasoned. Taking fear index high to nab shares at rock bottom is the agenda.
TBH, I am waiting to buy more and will probably end up doubling my investment. Just need to pick and point I feel is right. I suspect there are a lot of people who dumped waiting to get back in at lower prices. This has played very nicely for those short as they can exit with a hefty profit.
I am more than happy to load up and wait 2-3 years for a healthy capital return.

Plenty. Growth without debt, they have used cash to invest in infrastructure. Of course cash reserves are down. There is a rather large amount of scaremongering going on here. I've got to go to work but let's see how the market reacts.

Just thinking with the London listing proving to be a thorn, rather than main market listing in London, if they go for another market, say in the US? Just trying to second guess what MM means by more news to come?

Increasing dividend in the current political environment will be self defeating IMO. Buybacks and green UK based investments will be the headlines.
The other option here is to say, fine we will pay a windfall tax of X Billion and then hike the dividend. May happen but I am going with the former option for now. Lets see what comes this week. ATB
