"We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful." (Bushies topping up during the dips)

Ros, if you don't like the idea of solar panels on your roof. There are now smart window blinds that double as solar panels.

Expert and Alfa, thanks for your comments. It got me thinking about BMN's vanadium production per annum and how much of that VRFBs will need going forward.
Vametco's Nitrovan is a high grade product for the steel industry and due to rebar regulations will be in demand for the foreseeable future.
A Mokopane mining licence would be good right about now.
Great find Raz10.
BMN plan to increase production at Vametco to 5,000 MTV per annum. I have questions for the numbers guys please.
1. How much MTV is required for a VRFB the size of the Eskom/UET project we're in collaboration with?
2. How much MTV is required for micro-grid and mini grid size VRFBs that can be used off grid across SA?
Thank you

The article's focus is on up and coming WA mine projects due to the high demand for vanadium, and states 'Metals and minerals consultancy Roskill believe global vanadium supply remains tight following the closure of a major South African producer.'
I assume the above statement is past tense and they are referring to the closure of the Mapochs mine in 2015. It went into business rescue and was acquired by the Chinese group International Resources Ltd (IRL) in 2017. I haven't found any recent news.

Pdub, I think you were the first to welcome me to the Bushy BB. I've never forgotten your wise words and positivity. I'm sure you'll face this fight with the same positivity, strength and determination that shines through your posts.
Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

The WEF and the Shared Value Africa Initiative (SVAI) is encouraging news for investors.
Shared Value Africa Initiative (SVAI) tweet - 'What is the state of energy in Africa?' Mikhail spoke yesterday about the current power landscape on the African continent.

Recommend reading the other SVAI tweets from yesterday too. Further videos of how business will power Africa, and the socio-economic benefits of the public, private and community sectors working together. Sounds promising.
YTSS - thanks for the link to the Claire Perry article. I can refer to that when I contact her, which I'll do via twitter.
The Faraday Battery Challenge, which the UK government has invested £246 million, seems to be focused on Electric Vehicle batteries at present. I want to know if energy storage research and development will include VRFBs.
Peterfal - thanks also for informing us that you've contacted her numerous times by email.
Sontam67 - I think your suggestion that anyone interested that is in Claire Perry's constituency (Devizes), could attend a drop in surgery is a good way to ensure they are heard. Also, with regard to Radio 4's 'Any Questions?' - It was Sir Graham Brady MP (Con) who briefly mentioned energy storage, he then changed tack to answer the question on nuclear energy and suggested that smaller reactors might be an option. However, during the same discussion Rebecca Long-Bailey MP (Lab) and Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy was mentioned by another panellist. He stated that she wants to create hundreds of green energy manufacturing jobs. The opposition should be aware of energy storage developments, so I may contact her via twitter too (depending on reply from Claire Perry).

A recent article I posted included a quote from Claire Perry. I'm going to see if I can get a reply from her office regarding the UK's view on energy storage and VRFBs in particular. I'll let you know how I get on.
Claire Perry, the UK’s Minister for Energy and Clean Growth, said, “The UK and Canada have truly led the world in powering past coal, with the UK going more than 1,700 hours without coal this year. But climate change is a global problem, which requires a united response. This World Bank fund, backed by £20 million from UK Government, will allow world-leading expertise to be shared globally to encourage developing countries to move away from coal power and embrace renewable energy, helping them to save the planet while giving their economies a vital boost.”

I forgot to add that I'm sure the UK government is aware of the benefits of energy storage solutions. A recent World Bank article states the UK provided £20m funding to support these initiatives. I think we're just slow to promote, fund and progress energy storage in the UK.
'the UK government pledged £20 million to the World Bank’s Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), a global knowledge and technical assistance program administered by the World Bank to help low- and middle-income countries implement environmentally sustainable energy solutions.'
'programs will support the deployment of solar and battery storage, geothermal and offshore wind development, coal plant closure, and improvement in energy efficiency, particularly in buildings and cooling.'
