hedging IS expensive, more than peeps think, like carrying a medicine ball around while trying to run
the biggest single thing threatening HURR and limiting decision making is bond debt - removing that gives HURR it's most solid base
for example - what would Maris & Chaffe advise? - answer - hedge
why? (a) to ensure HUR survival? (b) or to keep HURR in thrall to bondholders?

It's a sit in a chair and make a judgement call situation
I based my view on:-
CA court argument figures saying with oil low 60s (the cautious 'future curve'), would be shortfall as low as circa less than $10 million. CA argued even a 20-30 mill shortfall easily borrowed in marketplace with economic production set to continue (with no further activity) till Feb 2024
OPEC+ agreement in place till April 2022
A price war benefitting no country - so POO solidly underpinned. Even just below 70 we're crying at today, HUR in the sun.
High hedging cost - for every say 5 mill spent hedging - if that cash used to buy bonds at say 60% - makes $8.33 million extra
Only thing to mega derail POO would be Covid return with vengeance. Only in that circumstance would hedging benefit
That's my judgement call - I don't think Covid will return with vengeance. But I accept it's a judgement call
There are only so many boxes one can seek to tick - then it's about risk-reward ratio and judgement call - upside for HUR early bond cash in bank if Covid stays away is huge

The 2 new BoD guys are oilers and out of necessity at least to some degree recent RNSs and near term future ones will be influenced by Maris & Chaffe. If 2 new guys started lay law down too quick whilst still getting feet under table and learning admins ropes, Maris & Chaffe are such prima donnas they would burst into tears and resign in a huff

Would be the huge break HUR deserve - if new BoD find old BoD massaged or limited data to ERCE - I do not rule out a resource upgrade and it would do wonders to SP and prospects
Golden - hedging is judgement call and expensive. Since solid floor now exists under POO I would take risk and not hedge - the upside of not doing so considerably outweighs the downside. Without wasted costs (eg 17 mill), and ultra cautious ex BoD hedging in the past, HUR would already be looking at being be rock solid safe by Xmas. I'd take the chance and not hedge
