And if you think about Holmwood Serif, everything was done in accordance with OGA, planning, HSE and Environment Agency requirements. But did Europa as operator get compensation when the government pulled the rug after millions of pounds had been spent in good faith? Did tf.

The Irish Regulator must be satisfied with the reasons for the additional work programme offered, before a licence extension can be granted. I really don't think they will admit that their reticence in providing a work permit to allow an environmental survey for a drill will necessarily constitute a reason for an extension. But we'll see. Governments tend to find reasons why situations aren't their fault. I am reasonably confident that one day Inishkea will be drilled. I just think that if the licence isn't extended for Europa, it won't be Europa who drills it. And frankly that leaves me with a very nasty taste in my mouth.

TBH Brezhnev, if the application for extension at the end of July isn't granted, I think that that will be the lot for Europa in Ireland, as, if subsequently the coalition collapses and a sensible person is put back in charge of Irish energy supply who makes Inishkea once again available, Europa won't get a look-in in preference for one of the majors. Once it's gone I don't think we'll get it back.

Absolutely sums up the debacle that is the Irish energy policy, brezhnef. I understood that the Edge licence would be running out at the end of June, and as it had been relinquished by DNO, (as approval to transfer it to Europa had not been approved by the Irish government), application by Europa (or anybody else) for it would be viewed as a new application, which is not permitted. It would therefore be dumped in the bin for lost opportunities, never to be seen again.
I also enquired if the extension of the Inishkea licence at the end of July could be viewed by the Irish government as a new application, not a continuation, but never received a reply, so I do wonder if the Irish government have found a way to kill a licence without having to actively admit it. A bit like Gove when he killed Holmwood by not renewing the lease on the site.

Jack, personally I can't see a problem with them mentioning funding. After all, WNB-2 will be drilled to prove commerciality first, then (if WNB-2 is successful and they don't sell West Newton) the next 4 wells will be drilled for which funding is required. And let's face it, if WNB-2 is successful, potential farminees or buyers will be crawling over broken glass to be first to get a piece of the action.

JD, with regard to your observation on the different references to oil, ie. '1,000 bopd of oil' and 'small volumes of associated liquid', I suspect that RPS identified liquid hydrocarbons as being 'oil', whereas CoreLab subsequently were able to pin it down more specifically as being condensate, which as I understand it, could become gaseous as it was subject to a change in pressure during extraction.
I don't see anything more sinister than that, but perhaps the company would explain the change in terminology.

JD, I took the 'subject to funding' comment as meaning they were looking at farming out if they were to progress the whole project - after all it was in direct reference to a 'phased 8 well gas development'. They have the funding in place for WNB-2 horizontal well drill and test, which I personally believe will be the final stage before selling West Newton.

Sorry to plss on your chips persimmon, but for what it's worth and believe it or not (and I really don't care one way or the other) I make a living from my share investments, without having to dip into my cash savings.

Watts, I've always assumed a production date is irrelevant because I believe they'll sell as soon as they've proved it's commercial, ie. after WNB2 in H2 next year. Of course it will be a massive drill and everything hinges on that, but in the meantime they just have to make the asset as valuable as possible by getting permissions and permits in place, which they are.
Just my opinion of course, although it does seem they have a plan to take it forward as the existing JV partners alone, with as little hit on the share price as possible.

Uggy, from now on I'll think of you as persimmon's Mrs Palmer. You certainly have pleasured him this morning.

The trouble is, Rodster, he drives investors away. Take BillSuffolk for one. That drops the share price and causes shareholders to blame the BoD. It's exactly what his agenda is, and when someone tries to damage my investment I don't roll over like a pussy, I challenge the misinformation he spouts.

CB, don't forget the share price is set by market manipulators, not the BoD. How often do we see companies with good assets, no debt and more cash in the bank than the value of the market cap. You've said yourself that we have far better assets now than when the share price was 0.7pps. It was the BoD who put together those assets, but it's others who control the share price.

Anyway, I'll shut up now as I hope the share price will drop a bit. I'll be clearing some cash soon and want to buy a few more RBD shares.
