@Magnum,
It is with great sadness that i have to fully agree with the content of your post at 08.14.
It baffles belief that we are meant to have regulatory authorities in this country, whose primary task should be to protect innocent genuine investors.
I've a fair chunk in here too, and i so hope time proves you to be incorrect, with your sage judgement, Magnum.
Here, here Del.
You are spot on, as always.
I'd love to be able to crawl away from this, with something left intact.
Thank you for your ongoing support and efforts here. It's much appreciated. Certainly my me, and all the rest of the silent majority. Most, don't bother posting here.
So, don't let the oicks on here, get to you.
Morning.
Redirons. How's your head this morning. Congrats on WHU success. I was at Wembley in 1975 to see them lift the cup.
Why didn't they play in 1st colours y'day? Surely no clash with opposition? I always think it's a shame when not in true colours.
Bristol BE. Sorry for you for the spoiler. It's a right pain, but Redirons was well chuffed. I always avoid the Aston Martin board from noon on a race day, to avoid a possible spoiler.
JungleBabbler. If you are in heavy swell in North Pacific.... I wouldn't think 'what Shaun did next' is likely to be 'next up'!!
Mind your shoes. Hold onto the rail and lean well over the side.
Apologies to those others here, for the off topic. At least there is something to celebrate. This share isn't giving us any joy.
Couple of years ago, (having slashed the divi) BP said they would raise the divi by a small..ish % each year (4/5%).
Was that:
i). A % uplift in each share dividend. or,
ii). A % uplift in total cost of dividend?
If ii). then presumably we could see a much larger per share increase, due to the continued buy-backs.
Any thoughts, out there?
Struth, a rise in the SP.
Bound to prompt a speeding ticket RNS in the morning: -
' The Directors, in line with their open and transparent communication policy, know of no reason underlying the rise in yesterday's share price'
You heard it here first.!!!
Dr Patience.
Yes, pedantic was a little strong. So apologies.
However, this issue is a non issue.
Brokers now correctly record it as a return of capital and reduce the cost of your shares. So, the capital gain or loss just falls out.
It has nothing to do with income.
The case quoted is about an employee who forewent remuneration to receive shares. Hence the treatment as income.
That case is specific to an employee who exchanged employed income for shares, which were treated as income, hence any return was treated as income.
Very unlikely that common shareholders are employees who have foregone remuneration for shares.
You are making a mountain from a molehill, and being pedantic.
Our receipt is clearly a capital distribution and treated as such.
I rest my case. !!!
This has been done to death.......
It's a capital return, as designated by the company.
As such, HMRC can only treat it as such. In the unlikely event HMRC treat it as a dividend, they are incorrect.
It's a capital transaction, not income.
Well said Sparkle.
Their clearing agent is a good point, to explain slight delay by HL.
Other smaller brokers manage to apply the payment from Glen on the payment day, so you would think HL would be keen to do likewise, especially as they still carry a tarnished reputation from other matters.
Well said, Rooky.
I applaud all the attempts on here to chase down all avenues to get some form of retribution from the shysters here.
I fear it's a long hard winding road, with the FCA and Resolve, which may well back up into a cul-de-sac.
As such the press and media may well be a more efficient and painless route.
Rooky, let me (and others here) know which press you contact, and i'll add my voice too.
I'm also happy to lend support to contact with FCA and Resolve, please provide case/reference numbers, when available.
Good luck to us all.
Yep.
It wasn't bad was it.
I did think it would be earlier.
Some folks must have been aching to say.. 'Where's my divi'.
For the record got mine with LSE, but not via HL.
They are just very slow.
All brokers would have had the money sat in their client account first thing today.
Just some are very inefficient.
