I understand your logical question.
Agree with Smithy, too.
Another slant is:
How does your local fruit and veg trader on the street market, decide how much to charge for the sprouts he's selling?
A number of factors, supply, demand, cost, the weather, his experiences, time of the year, to name a few.
Not forgetting, what he can get away with.
This year compare the price of sprouts on December 20th, to that on January 10th 2022. Be a big difference.
Same principles apply to shares. It's a market just the same as the sprouts. No co-incidence they both use the same expressions, market, trader, etc.
