They just want people to engage with them. A standard deramper tactic is to try and control the board so any meaningful discussion is much harder and any new potential investors visiting will just see a load of rubbish and be put off. The best option is for everyone to filter them out, then it’s much harder for them to control things. They end up talking to each other :-)

I should point out that one of those 100 expired licenses is right next to Zaco. Hopefully someone is on the case!

“ABOUT 500 MINING LICENCES FREED FOLLOWING AUDIT OF CADASTRE DEPARTMENT

The recent closure of the Cadastre department at the Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development has resulted in freeing of about 500 mining licences following an audit.
The audit that was conducted to ensure a corrupt free issuance of mining licences also revealed that around 100 expired mining licences were active in the system and has been cleared to pave way for new applications.
Ministry of Mines Permanent Secretary Mooya Lumamba says the audit had established that some companies have about 80 inactive speculative mining licences which have since been frozen and that the owners have started writing to the ministry over the matter.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 10th Zambia International Mining and Energy Conference, Mr. Lumamba said government will only begin to accept applications after the 21st November 2022, when the Cadastre department will be opened for this purpose.“

The highlights:

We know that they need to wait to apply for “new” licenses on 21st. As they would have had to relinquish half of the license area for the two Zaco licenses up for renewal, it’s likely that they will re-apply for them, possibly using a new local company as has been done previously. There may be further new license applications (by Arc and / or Anglo) but that’s just speculation at the moment.

Both of the Botswana licenses have been drilled and mineralisation was encountered at the formation boundary for both areas. Samples have been sent for analysis. There has been ‘interest’ from certain parties over our activities.

Canadian company still going through exchange checks on Casa before listing, hoping for completion and listing “within weeks”

There have been expressions of interest in our Tingo shares.

Remy confirmed we are cashed up into the second half of next year, and that’s without liquidating our shares.

Actually, thinking about it, they could apply for the licenses through Handa, no need to set up a new company… less due diligence!

I’m guessing they have to put it out to tender but as we are the ones with access to those dumps it seems likely to be a one horse race!

Nat it’s possible they meant Cobalt, unless there are 2 different s la g dumps.

“ Mufulira is not yet linked to any refinery or process stage. This is potentially the next project to be considered by Jubilee. It has, in our opinion, the potential to rival the contribution of Leopard to the group”

“ Cobalt production from the Elephant (Kitwe) tailings plant only. There may be more options for Jubilee to focus on cobalt-rich areas in other tailings dumps (particularly TD52) and recover additional cobalt units. We also do not include the potential cobalt from the Mufulira tails or Mufulira s l a g s, which must be considered wild cards but ones which Jubilee are actively considering the sensitivity and benefit we see from cobalt.”

If they have solved the problem of extracting Cobalt from the silica glass, this could be very big….

As a reminder, from the WHI research note:

“Jubilee also has access to the Mufulira s l a g s from the Mufulira smelter, which
contain significant amounts of cobalt (pers. comm. Jubilee). These require a technical solution as the cobalt is tied up in a silica glass, but recovery may be achievable.”

Interesting snippet of news from yesterday:

“MOPANI Copper Mines (MCM) has embarked on the development, operation and maintenance of the Mufulira **** dump treatment project under Public Private Partnership (PPP).
The objective of the project is to design and construct a plant that will process the **** dumps to recover approximately 115,000 tonnes of copper and 30,000 tonnes of copper.”

At least we have a bit of jeopardy now to keep things interesting, both Botswana licenses showing mineralisation at the formation boundary and samples sent for assay, will those results come in before 21st November when they apply (re-apply) for licenses? :-)

But yes if you have looked at our survey data in depth, as Anglo undoubtedly have, it’s pretty obvious that there are certain licenses which they would be mad not to try and acquire…. Time will tell I guess!
