Interesting interview with Paul Kabuswe this morning in which he mentioned that there will be an EV battery manufacturing plant built in Ndola. Could this be a driving factor in the stated ambition to expand cobalt production. We would be in a prime position to supply copper and cobalt directly.

He also said there will be a big push to process minerals within the country rather than exporting raw materials for processing. The recently signed MOU between USA and Zambia /DRC is clearly with the intention to secure a source of EV batteries not produced in China.

My thoughts on the licenses are that the Zaco licenses are being transferred to Anglo Exploration to avoid giving up half of the area on renewal. If that is the case then we should see the same thing happen with the smaller Zaco license. It looks like Handa will remain, just with a slightly reduced footprint. Afrimin should be the same, assuming you believe that it still falls within our ownership.

Handa is the key license from what we know so far, it encompasses Cheyeza, Muswema and Lumbeta targets.

Nyambwezu is interesting for me… a potential Copper - Cobalt orebody. There is also cobalt measured at Kawumba which is west of Muswema.

For those who haven’t seen it, here is a blog post I put together on ARCM licenses in Zambia with some thoughts of my own on interpreting them.

It’s noticeable that the people complaining about the quality of the posts have never contributed a single quality post :-) Such is the way of the world… some people expect information handed to them on a plate.

I think the initial rise will have a lot to do with how bullish Anglo are when they officially announce the JV… if they talk the licenses up as potentially multi Tier 1 assets then things could really take off. Of course the real value is longer term, with drill results proving the potential.

Nobody said making money on junior exploration companies is quick but for the patient the rewards could be more than worth the wait. I might sell some of my holding on the initial announcement but I’ve got a few million and the majority will be there until drilling gets going. Quietly confident that we are sitting on a VERY good thing.

Ripley what is the point of your posts? Are they supposed to be a diary for yourself? They are of little value to anyone else who reads this board regularly, in fact more of an irritation.

Expansion into South America would go against what has been said publicly. Ollie said in his introduction:

“Within the next five years, it ought to have added another geography, hopefully neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and shown that the current business model is transferable to countries further afield, preferably in partnership with major players in the traditional mining industry.”

Leon said that they were very much focused on exploiting the opportunities available in Zambia.

To be honest I think they are in the perfect location to exploit both copper and cobalt opportunities and I don’t see what would be gained by jumping too soon into an unknown jurisdiction. Copper demand is expected to triple by 2040 but cobalt demand is expected to increase by up to 20 times…. Why go chasing the goose when the golden egg is right on the doorstep!

LPL is ‘Large Scale Prospecting License’ which seems to have been the forerunner of the Exploration License.

Jonah, just a heads up… Ella10 has form for deramping. Ask anyone on the ARCM board what they think of ‘her’ and the responses are unlikely to be favourable!

I’m wondering if we have a major new investor on the back of the Cobalt expansion plans… time will tell.

It’s pretty clear that they have had to separate the zamsort license from the wider Handa license, hence why Zamsort is now active again. Handa may reappear as the smaller area or it my appear as an ‘Anglo Exploration’ license. If you are still waiting for a cheaper entry point MT, then may I suggest you’ve already missed the boat.

Anyone who still thinks there’s any doubt that this deal is happening definitely needs to get along to Specsavers immediately!

Yes, I think they were using the ‘bidding area’ tag as a way of marking those licenses which needed priority attention after reopening. Most of the licenses marked like that are overdue for renewal.

The Zamsort areas still remaining so it looks like they have separated the licenses as per the settlement agreement.

More changes in cadastre this morning… Handa licence now gone and that wasn’t due for renewal. Things progressing and I think cadastre is likely behind what’s actually happening.

The new application includes the small mining license at Fwiji which disappeared a few days ago. Looks like consolidation.
