Ratbags mate, now I know what's wrong with you. You have politician-phobia. You simply blame everything on the politicians. Even when you are sitting in the toilet constipated because the politicians encourage people to eat healthy and you think healthy food is hard to digest! You blame car accident deaths and air crash deaths on the politicians too because they allowed car manufacturers to build cars and plane manufacturers to produce aeroplanes. So that they can collect tax! You blame the politicians for your wife wants to divorce you because the politicians pass the law that allows married couples to divorce!

So, do you want to live in a world that has no politicians, which means no government? But then there will be no NHS midwife or nurse when your wife or daughter (s) is giving birth. No NHS doctors when you are sick. No police when you are being Mugged. No schools for your children or grandchildren. You don't have to pay tax but the warlords will take everything from you including your women(wife and daughters). The good things are there will be no politicians telling you to eat healthy or asking you to put on your masks.......is that how you want to live?

That's good. My DLG break even points is 286.3p and LGEN is 255.4p. So both are in profit. The reason I am thinking of selling before they go ex-dividend is that nearly all of my other shares dropped a hell lot more than the dividend after they went ex-divi and kept on dropping, never recovered after several months. It's really frustrating indeed. I know it's risky to do so but worth a try. I know that the successful rate will be against me as my luck is always not so good. Drops like a stone right away after buying a share and flies immediately after selling it......... hahahaha

....don't lose heart. LGEN was the same when their results came out but ended the day in blue. Got to think positive hey?

This will be give VOD's SP some supports. At least it should help to push it up to the 120's. Let's see what will happen tomorrow then.

Good luck Mordox. Let's hope that the SP will get to where you wanted and a successful buy back later. I still haven't made up my mind yet. Got two days to decide.

But if I have decided to sell then I will buy back after a 20p drop. As there's only half percent stamp duty for buying back. The net gain will be about 18p, more than twice of the 7.6p dividend. That's good enough for me.......lol

Right Dan and poker, that's a bit better if we see it the way you two suggested. Yes, dividends are expenses but they do cause the losses of nav. Thanks for you guys explanations.

Can it reach £3.20 by Wednesday the day before going ex-dividend? Anyone thinking of selling, will it drop more than 7.6p on Thursday and keeps on dropping afterwards back down to below £3, I wonder? I am really tempted to take a risk..............hahahaha

No poker, it's not all clear but still clear as mud to me. Mole_man said that VOD has accumulated £120b losses over the years, of which £50b were Dividends. I thought dividends are shareholders' rewards just like company paying its employees salary. They should be treated as expenses at most. How come VOD treats dividends as losses? Do all other companies do the same, treated their dividends as losses too or just VOD? Sorry, pardon my ignorance again......lol

Great post BasilHope but I find it a little mind boggling. When you kept saying VOD made €1.1b gain from its €3b loan. How could they make such huge amount of profit from its loan?

VOD paid its convertible bond holders with shares from Its treasury. Those shares were bought over the years. Some were even bought before the pandemic when VOD's SP was over £2! Not so long ago VOD's share buy back program bought shares @130+p/140+p, which means VOD was paying the bond holders with shares cost them a lot higher than the current market price. How could VOD make any profit from doing that I wonder?

VI is a money pit, a serious leaking boat. VOD has made the right decision to stop investing. It's much better than keeps on throwing money into that pit, which will never get any rewards from it. Now VOD can concentrate on their other operations.

Cairns Energy is going to get their tax refund from the Indian government. Will VOD get their legal fee from the Indian government too, I wonder? I believe the fee will be as much as £40m. Every little helps hey.
