Promoting Phulbari Open Pit Mining and Power Plants10 Sep 2025 15:40
Having just listened (and sadly translated lol), this excellent new YouTube link about Rampal Coal Power Plant from 2 days ago, it has made me think, this is exactly how they will promote Phulbari Open Pit Mining, and the 6000MW coal power plants, especially with the significance of knowing that the Teesta River project is just being given the green light.
One thing to point out, is that with something as sensitive as the Rampal power plant, because of it being in the Sundarbans how they have emphasised the use of modern ultra-supercritical technology is being used, which will keep emissions and environmental pollution to a minimum, this imo is obviously how they would sell Phulbari as well
I can’t post the whole thing because it’s too long, so will post the main points …
sorry for it being a long post

• People’s expectations surrounding the Rampal project as a beacon of that light are skyrocketing. This is not just a new power plant but a new chapter in Bangladesh’s energy security. The commissioning of the coal-based plant with a capacity of 1320MW will open new horizons in the country’s electricity generation. The industrial, agricultural, and household sectors, which have been suffering from electricity shortages for a long time, will see the light of new possibilities. No matter how much controversy there is over the location of the Rampal Power plant, no one can deny its strategic importance. This project is going to become one of the tools to set the wheels of development in motion in the southern region.
• The industrial areas of Khulna, Bagerhat, Satkhirah and Barisal will receive direct electricity facilities. Which could revolutionize investment and employment
• When connected to the national grid, it will change the quality of life for millions of people. Light will reach dark villages. Agricultural production will increase, and industrial areas will become more active. The dream of Bangladesh is hidden amidst all the controversy surrounding Rampal’s light. If the project can be carried forward while maintaining a balance between development and the environment, it will one day be part of history.
• Bangladesh has long faced obstacles to its development progress due to shortages. The lack of electricity, was evident in industry, agriculture, and even daily life. At that time, the Rampal Power Plant was one of the largest initiatives taken to ensure the country’s energy security.
• a significant amount of electricity will be added to the national grid and the pace of industry and trade in the southwestern part of the country will increase many times over. It is not just a power plant but a symbol of development and modernity.
• Employment opportunities will be created for thousands of people, which will have a positive impact on the local economy
