I am up 1.5% today in my Sipp and I also waited for it go down...to 166p. Not buying more as it represents 13% of my total portfolio. Want a decent rise so I can sell out of my sipp holding.

390 nice but I doubt it's coming any time soon. Legal and general have been underrated for to long to suddenly become "fashionable ".
There ESG Should mean a higher rating. There is at least one investment trust that is going down the pure ESG investments.
So we have a company with an ESG far higher than the majority of companies AND it has a high dividend to boot.
What more could the market want?...other than for not to be an insurance company!!

The bid offer is very annoying it makes me look very well off in my Hargreaves Lansdowne account.

The pundits (Ian Cowie for instance) and the brokers will push the price up over the next 3 months.
The 5% increase in dividends was what I was expecting BUT as usual the market expected more despite the clear statement by L&G that they were not going to increase the dividends by the previous 7%.

Steady gains is what I expect. With a run up to a new peak followed by profit taking. Definitely standard behaviour for last 3 years.

The high was well before the crash.
I am just in profit (share price) today on my 2019 purchase and a very good 60% on the 2020 purchase.

You are silly man.

Legal and general have been increasing profits by about 7% a year for 5 years (excluding last year). A continuous increase at 7% a year is a better than average growth. As they don't intend on increasing dividends at the same rate that implies increased investment which equals increased growth. Either way 7% compound is good growth not a FAANG growth but good growth.

It was cheap before the crash and the market clearly overreacted (with the benefit hindsight!)
I await to see if it's overreacted on the upside and will inform you that it did....with the benefit of hindsight!!

Is it possible that Newriver is getting rid of the pubs to make the firm a better option to be taken over? by Bravo for instance.

I am thinking the same but I won't do anything unless I have something else in mind.
I am down 1% on my first purchase and up 40% on my second. I just can't work out what the long term dividend payment is likely to be.
10p a year say 2023 wouldn't certainly be worth thinking about. Possibly a little hopeful!!

PS capital gains tax. I get the impression that lot on here would get hit badly by that.

Sounds risky to me. The market may change significantly while your doing it plus all the costs. I would consider doing it and probably will to get bigger dividends in the future. Sell before the final dividend and buy back after. Example sell legal and general just before the final dividend set a limit order to buy back after. But in my case I would be doing this so I can put the shares into in an isa while covering all my costs. But the market could change significantly in between.....as it often does. Markets just don't go up in straight line.

Will it mean that borrowing will be a lower interest rate? Or is their interest rate already fixed? I am ignoring the revolving credit.
