From his career history, I don’t automatically see him as the CEO of a copper producing major. Also, he would be knocking on by the time Solg really qualifies as one. But, having made a lot of money in this life, he might want to do something more lasting like actually sire the next BHP rather than just selling on to them time and again. I still think flogging ENSA, or making that into a JV, is the most likely scenario leaving him and SOLG funded to carry on proving up the other prospects. Interesting problem to have.
@ BN.c.
Mornin’ my dear chap. agree, NM is in print somewhere about “going for gold“ and specifically addressing BN as a quickish and low entry price route to a gold based income stream from which to finance the development of Alpala. i get my back pay from July and a little bonus at the end of this month and so am hoping these levels hold a bit longer!
And while I’m passing, may the fleas of a thousand camels crawl up Neil Woodford’s tailpipe
@ Snugg. They are in print specifically talking about a ‘going for gold’ strategy and what you suggest was exactly what they articulated: Finance Alpala after bringing one of the surface gold discoveries on line as the easier, cheaper and quicker entry point to being a producer with a cash flow that’s not all outward! Someone may remember the articles ..
Hi BN.C .. parenting weekend so I don’t get custody of the remote. Anything could happen on that front. Got a kind Samaritan errand to run tomorrow and am endlessly resisting the urge to bid on a roasted ash fender telecaster I rather fancy. I’m good at restraint darn it. It’s gorgeous.
Hmmm. I’d imagined some quiet negotiations going on around the loan terms and conditions because the IMF political backers would likely encourage anything reasonable to normalise stability (financial or otherwise) in Ecuador Just remembering how Greece played out on another stage. And yes, tax a successful industry is an option but not before it’s even got started. Feels so long term an option that the whole political and economic landscape might be completely different anyway.
There have been plenty of RNSs which rationally ought to have had a positive effect but never did. I don’t get my hopes up these days. The MRE underpins c. 20p, and should a corporate action kick off, I can’t see it through acquisition of the little being traded currently. These are the silly times between discovery and development. Plenty written about it. Keep calm and carry on.
We talk about hired thugs poisoning the discussion boards with negativity .. I’ve always thought that was at most diversionary. Now, setting up an Australian based lobby group to protect Ecuador from mining has ‘vested interest’ written all over it. Looks well funded by someone. Mining companies are tough outfits because of the environments they operate in, socially, politically, technically. I wonder?? In a way, I’m really heartened that’s it’s getting ugly now because in chaos lies opportunity. Something decisive may well finally happen.
Whilst it doesn’t look pretty, it’s maybe not game over. Two thoughts .. 1) if like major miners, you run a business with long (10-15 year) planning horizons, then this is just a brief moment in time, and 2) fortune favours the brave (sometimes) meaning this might be the trigger for a corporate move on Solg. As the saying goes, if you can’t kick a man when he’s down, you’ll never kick him when he’s standing up.
I’m willing payday along for a top up with fingers crossed. Yes, I’m concerned, I don’t like any of this, but equally, when the french kick off, take to the streets and set fire to lorries, I don’t dump my european stocks in a blind panic. Steady as she goes.
I still think they could put ENSA up for sale if push came to shove .. and who knows who will appear from the shadows in a bidding war for a substantially de-risked resource. Packaged up ready to develop. There are still dice to roll.
