NGC could be a catalyst if they step it up13 Apr 2021 16:29
Clearly Royston is the biggest item for TXP for the rest of this year. Not often is there a 1 TCF prospect all teed up and about to be drilled - with a clear a yes/no answer, and tilted toward yes. As Paul says it is exciting and nerve racking.
But NGC could also add to our momentum. They keep saying Trinidad needs more natural gas. If so why not ramp up the construction of this pipeline spur to the Cascadura site and do it in three months. I know it is in the jungle, but this is not exactly the Manhatten project. The main pipeline is very close. In the Montney or the Permian or the Bakken a new pad this close could to a pipeline be hooked up in a month. Or less.
That accelerated timeline would have the advantage of accelerating TXP production and cash flow too. Plus there is no reason (except bureaucracy and operating execution) that TXP could not put in a second cascadura pad and drill 2-4 development wells in the same three months. Put that new Canadian rig to work. Hooking up the second pad could be done in a week or two. All this would have benefit of establishing TXP as skilled operator and producer and not just an explorer and a sleepy manager of 1300 barrel of oil portfolio from multiple small shallow wells over on the west side of the island. TXP would add more than 100 mmcf/day to Trinidad natural gas supply. There would also be the matter of adding 5,000 to 10,000 barrels/day of liquids, that alone likely 10 times current production.
The wall of cash would become a reality rather than a metaphor. Royston could be a magnificent new chapter to replicate the proven rapid development of Cascadura. With lots more exploration to come.
I don't see why all that could not be done. The gas is there, the first two wells are drilled and are tested and are ready to go. The pipeline is not far away. Trinidad needs some good news. Trinidad economy needs some help. The NGC is an agency of Trinidad government.
