I don't agree that they would "stage" a big flare for a visit of a government official who is trying to promote a middle ground between green energy and the most responsible lowest CO2 footprint use that is possible for hydrocarbons. It is not like a little bonfire for making s'mores.

As I said it was "somewhat" off topic to talk about DME here so you could have skipped that thread. The reason I posted it here was the topic of He3 level in the helium gas (300 ppm vs 5-20 ppm). The higher level of He3 may pertain to the Helium one given the source of our gas and prior testing of helium in Tanzania - and that might have some implication (positive) for the company. Or not.

From the flare it seems obvious that they are in middle of flow test which should take at most a few days. Then they will do a pressure build up test which can take up to a week. This testing will help determine at what rate the well can be produced. And also can be used to help calculate additional reserves.

I think they would prefer to link the operations update with an announcement that Royston has spud. Maybe they can include some other items also, like a final decision on where Coho will be tied in, and even whether or not they will move quickly to a second Coho well to boost production there (a site for second Coho well is shown on their current corporate presentation). Maybe a word about the status of the Canadian rig. Maybe they could talk about potential for Cruse development wells and whether horizontals are an option. Canadian rigs and drill crews are pretty good at horizontal drilling.

Other items are down the road a ways. Like Cascadura development plan and NGC starting construction of the pipeline spur to the Cascadura site. Those items may be a month or two away, maybe linked with the report of initial Royston results in the next operations update (after this one, which I expect in 1-2 weeks). As Paul says, there is more ahead of us than behind us.

aim looking at the photos of flares from the other three discovery wells in the current corporate presentation, this flare is smaller than Cascadura1-ST and Cascadura Deep flares. But it looks pretty similar to the Coho flare.

Well the Chinook well pad is not as close to the as yet unbuilt pipeline extension to the cascadura well pad - as the coho drilling pad is to an actual working pipeline. And here we are a year and a half later and Coho gas is still totally stranded with the pipeline lengths piled up at the site but not a piece of pipe in the ground. A nano liquification module and some trucks sounds better and better.

The Wikipedia page on Helium 3 is fascinating. Apparently there are something like 200-300 He3 atoms per million He4 atoms in primordial helium (cosmological helium) from deeper plumes, but diluted to 20 ppm or less in helium gas from crust/mantle source diluted by radioactive decay of uranium and thorium. Seems like it would be very costly to pull out those 300 helium atoms in a million, but maybe a lot more feasible than extracting 20 helium atoms per million. Sounds like DME may have a buyer if they have the higher 300 ppm concentration of He3 in some of their reservoirs and the government would likely extract it (at Los Alamos? to do fusion research) and then sell the He3 to Intel. That is all rank speculation, musings of the barely educated.

That is very interesting - I learn a lot here - I didn't even know they had such things as nano liquification plants - NGC could pay for one of those since they get a good long term price on the gas. I actually wonder if they have any. One of many vendors is cryonorm.

I'm quickly in over my head and I think I will need an Oxford Professor of Noble Gasses to chip in here. There is evidence of higher He3/He4 rations in Tanzania suggesting a plume from lower source rather than helium from upper mantle. I do not know if there is any commercial implication to this or how hard it is to separate He3 from He4. As I said I'm way over my head. But there is stuff out there.

Robert Rohlfing (DME CEO) gave a remarkable interview about the well 4 findings in Holbrook basin. He strongly hinted that this well has some helium 3 in it and that has something to do with the immediate (same day) payment agreement with the government.

For those who don't know Helium 3 is a big story in futuristic planning to develop nuclear fusion with a non-radioactive element. For a long time there has been scheming about mining it on the moon and transporting it to earth (at great cost) to provide energy. It is very valuable and I am sure the US government would like to have a good supply of it right in Arizona. Anyway it is totally off the wall idea and likely the interview is a big tease, but it might be worth 24 minutes to listen to it. I don't remember anyone talking about possibility of Helium 3 in the helium source underlying Tanzania but I am going to try to dig into that. Certainly the Oxford Geology Department Noble Gas Group would have done some analysis.

That is remarkable if they have active flare at Chinook from the Cruse (lower well was plugged). It does not look like the Cascadura site. But I am not sure they wanted to release information about the test of Cruse formation at Chinook site in that exact way.

In any case, it sounds like great exposure for the company to give the Energy Minister a real feeling for the scope and possibilities of TXP operations on Ortoire block. And it is very relevant to him. After all the NGC hasa contract to buy all the gas they produce for the next 25 years. I think it would be huge fun to get a tour from Xavier! I would fly to Trinidad for that opportunity.

The helium processing plant is not a truck mounted unit like the geolog truck on site now. It is a fixed processing plant. However it is shipped as a modular unit on 8 -10 containers and brought to site on trucks where it is assembled on a prepared concrete foundation. DME has already ordered such a unit (lag time of 12-18 months) and it will be assembled in the desert in the Holbrook basin in Arizona. In their case it is even simpler because the buyers (including a massive new Intel manufacturing plant nearby) want to send their own trucks to pick it up. Helium One will have to truck the containers to Dar Es Salaam where they will be loaded on container ships. However it is possible that another company could invest in the necessary trucks and containers and contract with Helium One to do the transportation to go he port.. That would reduce capital needs but would cut into Helium One profits a little.

not a problem to wireline a sidetrack

That was the well at the proposed steelhead site (south of royston) where Shell lost piece of equipment and never tested the well. Shell did wireline the well that Royston is twinning - and found 700 feet of natural gas pay. They were not interested in natural gas and never flow tested the well. The image of the old wireline test at the Royston site has been in every TXP corporate presentation slide set. for several years.

Minister of Energy talks at national conference and says Coho will be on line in Q3 and Cascadura in Q4. (also says chinook will be on line Q4 but that is totally bonkers).

Finncap comes out with July update and translates that as “Coho will be on line by end of 2021 and Cascadura by end of Q2 2022.” They don’t even mention Chinook, that would not even be reasonable.

Not to quibble but drill was stuck and promising well abandon in years gone by at Steelhead, another one of the three drills for that he second stage of exploration. No one has ever sunk a pipe into Kraken prospect. (Cretaceous - some similarities (god willing) to the deep water oil discoveries off shore Guyana and Surinam.

This site is actually a very good place to access any current RNS and all past RNS. There is a link at top of this board that says “TXP Live RNS” but also contains whole history of prior RNS.

One other thing that I forgot to mention is that Royston is a twin of an old well-bore that had 700 feet of beautiful pay on wireline that was never flow tested. That is the absolute best kind of wildcat - (definition is a field with no prior discovery and no production history). That is especially true now that the on shore turbidite sands model for Ortoire block has been proven by the Coho and Cascadura discoveries.
