My hypothesis was there is oil and gas in quantity under this whole area like a sponge filled with water and air.

The sponge is the turbidite sands, so far especially the miocene Herrera. I got really interested when I heard a recording of a Xavier Moonan presentation (at scientific conference) about the turbidite sands on shore Trinidad rather than deep water off shore, and why there might be such a system in Ortoire block. Then Paul started talking about that in many of his older presentations. And they have proven it! Coho was a hint. Cascadura was a flat out homerun. and really proved the concept. More to come. Royston is super big piece of the puzzle, but it is much more likely to yield a discovery now than before, given the results of their first four exploration wells and proof of the overall concept.

I think we are about to be tested as to our environmental creds - and the first part of the test may be the letter of response as to how we are going to manage to protect the public during operations and also make a positive difference and reduce toxicity long term. That will include a look at moving the tailings, reprocessing steps, waste management, land remediation.

It is easy to say you are green and reduce pollution and harm from the tailings. Probably harder to do.. I am not saying that Jubs is not doing that, just that the premise is getting a little test, maybe with a pretty deep dive.

Really nice overview. Comments about company formation, attitudes, culture. Places Coho and especially Cascadura discoveries in context. Also talks about Chinook just a little - they have lots of data from cuttings, logs, and other analysis and will be presenting some of this at September AAPG Caribbean 2021 Technical Conference. Talked a lot about seismic and how it was done and what they hope to learn - did not show any data. Talked about Royston and need to drill the well to know the results - but also said that “sky is limit after we score big on another big discovery”. Number of questions. Talks about need to share data and how it took them 3 1/2 years to get the data they needed to proceed with Ortoire discovery. Made it clear the it is healthy culture and he loves working for TXP. It was aimed at young professionals and not investors. Made me glad to be investor on this company. I remain a big Xavier Moonan fan. He is the real deal. Talks about communicating with people with past (even OLD) experience and how he values that. Likes to listen. Is passionate about company and his work. He talks about employees being valued by the management. Everyone contributes - a task at hand is more. than something you have to do - it is some thing that you want to do to help the company be successful.Big safety focus. Good teamwork. Highly skilled employees.Nimble and not hierarchical. Paul can take some credit for how things work - that is partly a CEO deal. Anyway I have said many times that TXP is my highest conviction stock in the small company high risk/high potential reward space.,Everytime I hear Xavier, that conviction increases.

Wonder if they are running a multi rate test at Chinook. Might explain a few things.

That's a good thought. Sometimes it helps to tell at what rate they can produce it by looking at pressure draw down and pressure build back at different flow rates (is that what you mean?).

1. Investment advice is not difficult following it is!
That is like my advise to pitchers (coaching baseball). Throw strikes. Easy to say it. Difficult to do it. (especially if you combine it with "don't give them anything to hit")

Yes but you also have the pressure of not wanting to lose "her" money, only if that means in her name. At different times and for different reasons I managed my parents' money and my brothers money. Always did better than with my own money. Took fewer chances.

3. I have written to many CEO’s and recently 4 from 6 have replied.

Was one of them employed by Helium 1? Is there anything you can share about specific concerns, information you gave him, comments you got back. I realize that you might not to share any of that, but I am interested. (and I wouldn't be if you had mot brought it up).

4. Often some peeps don’t sell loser to ride winners or what you are sure are winners!

What I see (and confess that I have done though rarely) is to sell winners to fund losers. That is a particularly bad strategy, and a wealth destroyer if done too often.

Delay isn't really a delay. Six months preliminary results were released on July 12 last year but August 5 the year before.

Still financial reporting is best if it is timely, predictable, transparent. For every update (whether it is a quarter report or an every six month operations summary) we should expect at the same time, in same format, with open honest views.

They maybe fall a tad short as we have no idea when it is coming, how the report will be structured, how complete it will be. But still I would rather have some inconsistency in reporting but STRONG numbers - than a more consistent reporting of troubles and delays and financial performance lapses.

The first 70 meters took over a week.

They started drilling June 12 at 4 PM. They drilled slowly to a depth of 55 meters (exact time to that depth not given). They conductor casing was cased to that depth. Then they resumed open hole drilling from the 55 meter mark at 5 pm on June 19. They drilled 15 meters in 1 1/2 hours and hit helium show at 70 meters at 6:30 pm. David saw the jump in He on his lap top in London and at first thought it was an artifact. The RNS was released on June 21.

So they did drill that 15 meters from 55 to 70 pretty darn quickly. But they did not drill the first 70 meters in a few hours.

I was listening to the Ovintiv conference call this morning (that was one great opportunistic buy in March 2020) . They averaged 2000 feet per day in Montney last quarter. And they drilled 55 wells in a row without a side track. I hope that some of the canadians (with mix of local drilling personnel) on the crew of our new fancy rig have some experience with OVV. They are relentlessly efficient. Of course it is a different deal in Montney - development wells in known geology. In an area with massive infrastructure.

But even though TXP is in Trinidad and Ortoire is in the jungle with little infrastructure, I still think there is room for improvement. Hopefully steady gradual improvement in all areas as TXP evolves into a major operator over the next few years. Hoping this new advanced rig and any crew expertise they are bringing will be part of this. They should make very short work of four shallow development wells over on the legacy side with better infrastructure in place.

But it is interesting to put 30 meters per day into context. On many of its wells OVV hit 1200 meters scores before lunch.

Right now I am hoping for solid (or even superlative) findings during the drilling and then timely and accurate reporting of those findings. That would have a decidedly rampy impact on the share price..

1. Seismic (of Royston area) is done - don't forget to listen to Xavier Moonan's Virtual Tour of Touchstone (for YPTT Chapter of AAPG) on Friday - the link is on his FB page. That will be very interesting. The blurb by AAPG says that we will learn more about their recent seismic survey activities.
2. Royston should spud soon. It' is already way late and that is not big news, just a sigh of relief.
3. Strange if Cruse at Chinook remains on pressure test now and even stranger if that continues for many more weeks. They get baseline pressure, do a drawdown by producing at high flow (usually 24 hours) and then do a pressure build up curve. Some times they repeat these steps after small volume (for injured well bore) or large volume (for poor permeability) fracks. Sometimes they temporarily shut down adjacent wells (there arn't any in this case). I can't imagine what they would do for many weeks on this particular well. We saw a flare - sometimes will bore will clean up with more prolonged production and then can be retested. If so those with some knowledge of satellite photos can tell us if it is still being flared.
4. New rig gently floating on the ocean until early August. Will be great to get it on the island and at the legacy sites.
5. What does Coho deal in final stages even mean. It is a year and a half late. I guess they could announce a second development well (that is the only thing I would be excited about) and that construction has started to link it in the the NGC pipeline rather than to the half full Shell processing plant 3 km away. But that makes little sense. And either way it will take at least 60 days to get pipe in the ground once they finally announce where the pipe from the wellhead will go.

In response to TrekMadone - this is my highest conviction pick among my small cap high risk/high reward picks. TXP has been derisked to such an extent that the main question seems to be when the reward part will start to materialize. Of course that is not totally true but it sure seems like it. It is not 100% of any account I have and certainly not a huge percent of my portfolio (I don't do that), but I have very high conviction and I have enough shares where TXP could be a big contributor over next few years if it unfolds like I think it may.

If the helium in Tanzania is primordial and has the right dollop of He3 then the issue of China versus US becomes even more interesting.

Best it gets is 300 atoms of He3 per million atoms of He4.

Separating it and concentrating it is very complex, not something you do in a local helium production module, nothing like separating it from nitrogen or other gasses.

In fact in US -“ Production, sales and distribution of helium-3 in the United States are managed by the US Department of Energy (DOE) Isotope Program." Likely it is similar in China and other countries.

Both countries want more of the stuff.

If He1 has the good stuff (300 He3 atoms per million He4 atoms, versus 5 -20 He3 atoms per million He4 atoms), it is highly plausible and even believable that the US and the Chinese would want the helium, might take it off to their own fancy isotope processing labs, and then sell off the residual He4 to their tech and medical and other companies.

It is all pretty wild. Wild enough just to potentially have enough Helium (a globally important resource) to supply 10% of world needs for 100 years.

And now TXP has found some, chock full of hydrocarbons!

….is mainly because it excludes any huge problems with the drilling that is going to prevent the well from defining the geology - it is still proceeding apace. Less worry that they will have to abandon it with inconclusive results and have to regroup and start over.

Primordial or cosmological helium is the original stuff, same that is on sun and is carried to moon surface on solar winds. It is present since formation of universe and formation of sun and planets - on earth it can come to surface in deep super plumes. It has 300 ppm of He3 (compared to He4) which is of intense interest in energy research as a non-radioactive fusion atom. The helium from radioactive decay of uranium and thorium in crust/mantle is shallower and younger (hundreds of millions of years) and is all He4. Generally it dilutes any primordial helium so that the concentration of He3 in most helium found in natural gas wells is 5-20 ppm. If helium in Tanzania is primordial Helium there might be even more interest from a huge partner that could do the processing and concentrate the He3 for separate sale. Pure gold is understatement but can’t be extracted with off the shelf helium units shipped in containers.
