JE - Forget the email. The Market Maker system is the engine of market liquidity without which there wouldn't be a market. MMs take on the risk for providing that liquidity. The aim of ALL market participants is to profit from our exposure to equity risk. It's that simple. Yes, you get games and sometimes outright criminality but evidnece of manipulation is almost impossible to determine.

Prospector - Yes, your logic is impeccable, in hindsight! In reality, for many of us, trying to trade a stock can prove our undoing. The best approach is due diligence, research, make the investment based on that research and then manage your holding.

If only we had the power of prescience and foresight that would help us to avert those disasters that sometimes befall many investors

I know that all those companies are well financed (well capitalised, no debt) and enjoy a higher than average of success in their chosen field, in time. I also realise these stocks are 'speculative' and deemed medium or high risk in an investment sense but that's my choice.

I always thought that if a stock is listed on any exchange it would have to adhere to the rules of the exchange on which they were listed irrespective of a single or dual listing which is the case with FOG (TSX and LSE). Odd, that a company would be able to choose which rules they adhere to and which rules they don't though I'm still not au fait with disclosure rules on shareholdings. Is it the shareholder's duty to inform the company in which they hold stock that they have changed their holding? I am assuming it must be. Who is holding Petrohunter to account then for this?
