The drop off point back down into the mire will be at 1.65 I would think. That's why it is important it holds here and does not finish back at today's low.

Just typing "Royal Mail share price" into the google instantly brings the chart up. Clicking on "6 months" will clearly demonstrate support and resistance points.

Like I remarked -- just a basic rule of thumb. Makes for a little chit-chat though.

Why on earth do people, and, more importantly, Royal Mail, keep harping on about letters?

Letters are finished. Done with. Gone.

This company, whether the CWU, or indeed RMG themselves, like it or not, is now destined to become a parcel company; and unless it transforms quickly into a parcel processing and delivery company will go the way of the dinosaur- extinct!!

My work involves what is known as a cross-docking operation: I send Yorks onward to every part of the UK whether that be to Portsmouth or Inverness or over to Belfast or down again to London.

The amount of parcels is growing at a faster and faster rate...whereas, apart from economy mail, the amount of mail contained within grey trays is shrinking daily.

Why keep making reference to the decline in letters? What does that achieve? Answer = Zero!!

Come on Royal Mail! Stop bleating on about the decline in letters -- and bleedin well get on with it!
Oh and one more thing. By letters are people including all those padded jiffy bags and little Chinese packets? Because if not...there are literally thousands of these coming through every single night.

The "barchart" website is about as good as it gets. It has the added benefit of seldom being wrong. Only a rule of thumb of course...but there again all charts are. Its hardly an exact science.

I thought so at the time and I think so even more now that this pandemic has presented RMG with a unique opportunity...and that is endorsed further every single day.

I truly believe, for a lot of people, their shopping habits have changed for the rest of their lives. So many people who have never done very much online shopping before are now understanding and appreciating the great convenience of doing just that. None more so than the silver-surfers.

Example. My elderly mother (mid eighties) has always refused my every offer to buy online and have delivered food from the local supermarkets...not anymore.

Reluctantly, at first, she conceded the fact that is was now prudent for me to do this very such thing for her; her objections have always been based upon her belief that the quality would be 2nd rate.

Upon receiving her first order she was highly delighted with both the friendly service and the quality.

She will go out shopping again of course in the coming months...but I suspect she will continue to have me ordering online also.

Nothing to do with Royal Mail...but anecdotal of a changing world.

If he is binning big tranches of shares in the pursuit of profit...then the s.p is going to drop down even further yet.

Unless support is found here at 1.70 then the chart suggests a further retrace back to 1.60.

I think Kretinsky has an average somewhere around the 1.60 mark.

Unsure of what the update might say...but I do know this much: Yorks stacked with grey trays are as rare as unicorns. D2D is also down considerably. Uncertain by how much -- but a lot!

One little ray of sunshine: economy mail is speedily gathering pace and nightly volumes are increasing back up to more familiar levels.

Come June 25th will certainly be interesting that is for sure.

And in answer to that, Carrington, I would say look at where Kretinsky initially bought in -- when the latest increase in the Short positions took place -- and where the s.p is now. If you look at the chart is speaks absolute volumes! A slow but continuous, uninterrupted retrace all the way back down to when Kretinsky caused a minor stir with his acquiring of this stock; and all the rumours, stirred up and encouraged by those with their own reasons for promoting it, concerning a possible takeover bid.

And those rumours were, foremost, chiefly responsible for the spike back up to the 1.90 mark in the first place.

And why sell now? Because like I previously mentioned -- the Shorts will have heard something coming back about the latest meetings between union and employer...and of that you can be absolutely certain.

I, myself, have a rather diverse portfolio...from oil to engineering.

I specialise in cheap penny stocks... which, as we all know, are both risky and highly volatile -- good old AIM! Lol.

Point being: over the last two days one has risen 20%...and still rising -- several have moved up at least 10% -- the rest are "as you were". A couple, admittedly, have fallen slightly.

Its like a tired old cliche as far as Royal Mail is concerned: blame the markets and the Market Makers. Piffle!!

We will soon know what is behind it all: either an RNS in a day or two telling us Kretinsky has sold off a large amount of his stock...or we are informed of the opposite: he has taken advantage of the slump and increased his holding.

And you can bet your last red cent that the Shorts know which!

As always the Shorts are seldom wrong...it is, after all, how they make a living.

A major mistake a lot of investors have made with this stock is trying to align it with day to day market forces. Until a deal with the CWU is struck and an announcement is made giving all investors a clear and precise picture as to where this company is going and how it intends to achieve its objectives...then the s.p is not going anywhere quick.

I would suggest we are on the verge of bad news concerning any possible reconciliation between union and employer; as indeed Dave Ward intimated a couple of days ago on Facebook.

As per usual the Shorts have heard the whispering's first.

If this does not hold here, now the 1.80 resistance has finally broke...then all the way back down to 1.60.

If that fails we are looking at an even bigger drop!

P.s I reckon, if it carries on getting squeezed that is, it might hold around 1.58. Why? Because that is where our Czech mate first bought in.

In fact I would say D2D is down by at least 75%...and that's a conservative estimate.

MrNation, far be it for me to come into conflict with your "inside informative"...but your contact is talking "broken biscuits" on this one.

No way are the Yorks up by 5 x normal amounts. The economy volumes are now rising again quite sharply...but Door2Door is still very much down I can assure you.

The point I am trying to make here is this:-

Whether it be 6 days, 6 weeks or 12 weeks...where are the updates?

Is it still at sea? Has it made port yet? Has it cleared customs? Has it been delayed (at any stage) due to the virus? Or indeed any other reason...which could be one of many.

I mean come on. What the Hell is happening?

As for you "zipping" past container ships:-

1. The top speed of container ships "is" approx 43 Km an hour.
2. You are not "zipping" past them on the high seas are you?

They would pass you, if at full-speed...and drag you under in their wake, shipmate.

In fact the speed that ship is travelling at you could have gone around the whole world once...and now be halfway around again.

A dirty old lugger sailing out of New Brunswick with a gang of desperate, sweaty coolies shovelling coal 24/7 into an ancient clanging boiler held together by chicken wire and a prayer would have still made the trip several times over...never mind a modern container ship for God's sake.

Your average container ship travels at 24 Knots: approx 43 Km an hour.

Canada is about 3200 Km (as the crow flies) from Georgia...obviously depends on which side of Canada you are shipping from.

Lets round the trip up to 4000 Km, divide it by 43 = 93 hours, = less than 4 days at sea.

Call the trip 6000 Km. Thats still not 2 months is it?

As for present volumes? Things markedly dropped off 3 or 4 weeks ago from the peak in mid April...but over the last couple of days I concede there has been a noticeable upswing in traffic.

In all fairness though it will vary from site to site...at times depends on your geographical location I suppose.

However, last night, where I work anyway -- it was absolutely manic!

The amount of 1st Class and 2nd class tracked was very heavy indeed! Again though a lot of this can be put down to it being the normal Tuesday mayhem...Tuesday is always the busiest day for us on the Xdocking operations; unless of course we have just had a Bank Holiday Monday...then the busiest day will be the Wednesday.
